Orienteering race 41:01 [4] 4.0 mi (10:15 / mi)
shoes: Innov8 X-Talon (3)

CompassSport Cup, Canklow.
Blue men course, 5.0km, 200m.
A bit embarrassing all round. Firstly my level of navigation but also the standard of planning laid on by my club. I didn't have the ideal preparation working on the start until just before I was due to start. Ended up starting after the last official start time but ensured I gave Parkino the 5 mins I had promised him. I added the best part of 3 more minutes to this by blowing #1 badly. Better after that but still scrappy and getting stuck in more brambles than I'd have liked.
Then I got to the final loop. What was #12 (code 32) all about?? It was pretty obvious that this part of the map hadn't been visited for some time and yet the Planner still used it. And the Controller allowed it! I understand that OJ missed this control assuming that it had been stolen. I got a bit lucky as someone pointed it out to me. The rest of the final loop was just a pointless slog.
At least I chose to run for a winning team ;-)

Trail running 10:00 [3] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Innov8 X-Talon (3)

Warm down jog back to have another look at #12.
The dark green to the east of the control doesn't exist on the ground and the quarry is bigger than shown. There's no way this site should have been used without further work to the map.
Achilles not bad but had been slightly grumbly towards the end of the race. Ice once home.

Mountain Bike 1:04:00 [2] 11.5 mi (5:34 / mi)

Standard MTB loop (CW for a change).
Achilles just ever so slightly grumbly so decided against the planned run. So out on the bike instead. Still some snow drifts on the highest tracks. Even had to get off and push for 200m at one point.

Yet another fresh covering of snow this morning putting paid to my plans for the day :(
Therefore back on the turbo: 1 hour inc 5 x 5 mins efforts (as Sunday :- thanks again Lulu ;-)
3 PM

Road running 53:00 [3] 6.5 mi (8:09 / mi)
shoes: Saucony ISO3

The snow melted pretty quickly so decided a road run was safe. Holmfirth via S side of valley and back via Upperthong, The Ford and Booth House. Achilles and calf both fine.
