shoes: Innov8 X-Talon (3)

JK Day 2, Brereton Spurs.
M50L, 5.0km 250m.
2nd (+12 seconds to James Logue).
Shoe choice based on best for Achilles but not ideal on the slippery muddy slopes. Minced down all the steep hills. Navigationally pretty good. Two significant times loses: #1 overshot not seeing the veg boundary and #7 got the wrong route choice (up and around the path).

Decent warm up and down. Achilles not brilliant but trying to minimise damage and maximise chances of running tomorrow.

Very easy week required. Achilles not too bad this morning so looks like I'll at least make the start line of the JK. Definitely sitting out the Sprint though.

SROC re-scheduled Galoppen, Farlton Knott.
Brown course, 7.1 km, 310m. (this was the advertised course length but it's definitely not right:- I ran over 10 km according to Strava so straight line probably around 8.5 km Edit: 8.8 km according to the website).
Achilles was fine this morning and was no problem at all for nearly an hour- enough to have finished the advertised course length. Unfortunately it was a bit sore for the last 10 mins.
My navigation was sloppy. I lost time at #2 and #12, both due to heading into the vicinity of the control with no clear plan. Probably around 4- 5 mins in total. I must concentrate harder next week!

Mountain Bike 1:35:00 [2] 22.0 mi (4:19 / mi)

Time to kill so went for a bike ride around some old haunts. Started in Milnthorpe I did a loop north taking in Heversham before doing a loop south through Arnside, Silverdale and Warton. Lovely afternoon, but a bit knackered now (and worried about my Achilles). Ice once home.
