Pilates 1:00:00 [0]

Tough hip work tonight. Maybe I tied my theraband too tight?

Orienteering race 58:16 [4] 5.5 mi (10:36 / mi)
shoes: Innov8 X-Talon (3)

BOK Stockhill event.
Brown course, 7.5 km, 165m.
Keen to run on Dave's new map having missed out on the British Middles due to injury. I was not disappointed. Map a big improvement on the old one and good planning made the best use of it.
I had an OK run. No big mistakes but a bit scrappy in places. #6 was the biggest loss of time (approx 1.5 mins). This was partly poor route choice (I tried to run on the straight line through the light green rather than following the line of planting) and partly missing in the circle (struggled to understand the contours, partly because the circle hadn't been cut). Ben Maliphant ran through me around #10, #11, #12 but I couldn't keep up with him for more than a couple 100m.
Finished a massive 14 mins down on Ben Mitchell and a substantial 7 mins on Megan C-D. I did win the battle of the M55's though :-)

Mountain Bike 1:20:00 [2] 10.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Proper single track MTB in the Forest of Dean with Phil. Cannop cycle centre (basically the Sallowvallets O area).
We did the Blue trail together before I did the more technical Red route on my own. Good fun but I don't really have the right bike for this sort of thing.

Orienteering 1:06:00 [3] 6.0 mi (11:00 / mi)
shoes: VJ Integrator (blue)

Ran the M50L course from JK 2014 Day 3 on Llangynidr. I was injured in 2014 so first time on this area for me. My plan was to practice running on compass bearings using my thumb compass. Worked fairly well but struggled to keep looking up and picking the best lines through the terrain at the same time. I think I would still use a baseplate in a competition. Not enough fine detail to mean magnifier a necessity.

Note

Golf with Andy. Matchplay won 2 up. A bit like crazy golf with the frozen greens.
3 PM

Trail running 55:00 [3] 6.0 mi (9:10 / mi)
shoes: Saucony ISO3

Hades Clough loop. Tracks largely covered in snow and ice so taking it steady. All good.

Mountain Bike 2:00:00 [2] 24.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Golf course closed due to snow so decided on a bike ride instead.
Huddersfield, canal towpath to Marsden, up Wessenden and back down the road from the Isle of Skye. Wet and slippery on the towpath. Snowy and slippery (but just rideable) up Wessenden.
4 PM

Trail running 26:00 [3] 3.0 mi (8:40 / mi)
shoes: Saucony ISO3

Lap of Digley to test calf. All good.
