Orienteering race 1:10:52 [4] 7.0 mi (10:07 / mi)
shoes: VJ Integrator (blue)

DVO Event, Birchen Edge.
Brown course, 9.5km 155m.
Running strongly but orienteering like a donkey. There seemed to be a lot of controls out there and I kept on visiting the visible one near the one I should have been navigating to. Lots of 30s to 1 min errors but two bigger ones: #12 I wandered aimlessly around the circle until seeing the flag; #14 overshot massively having seen the control over 100m beyond ours. These two errors together cost about 4 mins but I reckon I maybe lost 6-7 mins in total. Improvement needed. However I was pleased to still be running strongly in terrain after 70 mins.

10 mins down on Rich R is good given all my mistakes. 5 mins down on Tim T not so good.

6 PM

Orienteering race 43:43 [4] 4.0 mi (10:56 / mi)
shoes: Innov8 X-Talon (3)

Beauchief night event.
Long course, 5.3km 215m.
Helping to run the start before I ran and, like last time I did this, I then proceeded to make a hash of it. No problems on the easy golf course section to start with but switched off brain after the dead running through Abbeydale Golf Course and lost lots of time at #20, #23 and #24. Will have to concentrate harder to succeed at the British Nights. Another chance to practice next week at Ilkley.
