11 AM

Trail running 20:00 [3] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Saucony ISO3

Warm up/head clearer run to the start and back. I definitely drank too much last night.
12 PM

Orienteering race 45:45 [4] 5.0 mi (9:09 / mi)
shoes: Innov8 X-Talon (3)

CompassSport Cup qualifier, Sherwood Pines (aka Clipstone).
Blue Men Course, 6.9km 75m.
The most pleasant course here for some time. Well planned RichR.
My only mistake was getting caught in bramble exiting #17. Pleased to finish a minute down on Tim T and James L.

Note
(rest day)

Golf rained off yet again. Not committed sufficiently to go for a run in the deluge so a day of TV sport.

Note
(rest day)

Golf with Andy and Mick. 33 Stableford points (16/17).
Happy with that in very windy conditions.

Mountain Bike 1:03:00 [2] 11.5 mi (5:29 / mi)

Standard MTB loop. Wet and windy. Perhaps too windy for cycling. I was blown off once and struggled to make any progress on the crest of the hill coming back into the valley.
Wearing a contact lens ready for my opticians appointment later. Survived despite getting a bit of grit in my eye.
1 PM

Note

Opticians for an eye test/contact lens check up. All OK but prescription has gone up slightly to +1.75. I'm already using +2.0 glasses for orienteering but my lenses are only +1.50. I have quite a decent stock of lenses so will probably wait until these are used up before buying some stronger ones.
7 PM

Orienteering race 1:09:15 [3] 7.5 mi (9:14 / mi)
shoes: Saucony ISO3

Kelham Island Urban race.
Long course, 6.5km straight line...
I don't think I've ever been over 10 mpk in an urban race. There again I've never run so much further than the straight line distance. A fun event but I must have been caught out by every trick in the book. The worst was #12 where I was probably about 15m below the control. I'm still not convinced that it's possible to make a fair map of 3D terrain on a 2D piece of paper.
8 mins down on Simon and 15 on a fit young student.
