Mountain Bike 1:40:00 [2] 12.0 mi (8:20 / mi)

Innerleithen red route.
Set off early to get back for the Women's tour of Scotland and to beat the forecast rain. No warm up on the flat today but straight up the hill from the town. A bit more technical than Glentress but still very enjoyable. Unfortunately I punctured coming off the top of the hill. In the 15 mins it took me to sort it out I got quite cold (it had started raining by then and I was only wearing a single layer). The rain turned the narrow trails into rivers and my brakes are virtually gone so turned into a survival exercise. I survived.

Trail running 48:00 [3] 4.5 mi (10:40 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw (3)

From the apartment in Innerleithen up Kirnie Law. Up the ridge via the hill fort and back down through the forest. 1,000ft climb straight up from the edge of town.
Achilles just beginning to grumble at the end.

pm. Visit to Traquair House. I remember running the Two Breweries Fell Race from there around 30 years ago but have never been in the house before. Some history! And the beer's OK as well ;-)

Mountain Bike 2:10:00 [2] 20.0 mi (6:30 / mi)

Finally stopped raining so ventured out to Glentress. Along the old railway from Innerleithen then the Red trail at Glentress. Unfortunately one section was closed for maintenance but the rest was fantastic single track. Highly recommended. A big big climb to the highest point so great aerobic training also. The forest looked as though it would be a decent O area too. Well, better than Whinlatter....
About 10 miles there and back on the flat railway path and 10 miles of hilly off-road.

Walking 1:00:00 [1] 7.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

Walk with Janet along part of the Southern Upland Way. St Mary's Loch to Traquair. Good brisk pace averaging 3mph due to daughter imposed deadline. Walking time 2.5 hours.
3 PM

Mountain Bike 35:00 [2] 8.5 mi (4:07 / mi)

Back around the road to pick up the car. Very reminiscent of the Trough of Bowland. Caught by a shower.

Trail running 27:00 [3] 3.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Saucony ISO3

Steady lap of Digley to see what state my body is in. Actually not as bad as feared. General tiredness but Achilles good. Hopefully will be ok so long as I don't do anything stupid like last August.
