10 AM

Cycling 50:00 [1] 11.0 mi (4:33 / mi)

To Deighton via main road then canal towpath. With Janet so easy pace.
Used old bike as my MTB needs new brake pads.
12 PM

Orienteering race 44:00 [4] 4.5 mi (9:47 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw (3)

CompassSport Heat, Fixby and Bradley Woods.
Blue Men course, 6.6km 170m.
L calf tight warming up. Sharp twinge coming out of #4 and the rest of the race then became a gradually increasing hobble. Probably because I was distracted I got ahead of myself at #7 and navigated as though I was leaving #8. Didn't make sense initially but eventually did so was unaware that I'd missed #8 until download. Doh!

I reckon it would have been very close between Parkino and me had I gone to #8...

Final results confirm SYO won despite my incompetence. Hopefully we'll be back in the forest in time for the Final...

Cycling 1:00:00 [1] 11.0 mi (5:27 / mi)

Home from Deighton. More effort as gradually uphill and into slight headwind. L calf not happy.

Note: pretty sure the calf issue is the usual spasm rather than an actual pull/tear. I wouldn't be able to carry on at all if it was torn. Therefore not too worried. If I let it settle for a few days it should be OK to at least start next weekend. However it's probably academic..

Mountain Bike race 2:15:00 [2] 23.0 mi (5:52 / mi)

NYMBO 2.5 hour score from Ilkley.
Treasure hunt type event with clues to answer so lots of faffing with pencil and answer sheet.
14 out of 30 controls. 280 points.
Large area and would have needed 5 hours to clear the lot so lots of decisions to be made. I'm not sure heading north initially was a good move as insufficient time to get many controls around Rombalds Moor. Bike now needing attention.

Note

Golf with Andy, Neil and Mark. 15 holes on temp greens. 30 Stableford points.
3 PM

Trail running 26:00 [3] 3.0 mi (8:40 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 780v3

Lap of Digley to test my Achilles. Not bad. Certainly good enough to run Sunday as long as I am sensible. Especially given it could be the last orienteering for a while. ..
Edit (Sunday): Although Achilles (usual R) was OK my other calf (L) tightened up a bit towards the end of the run. Didn't think too much of this at the time but obviously it was significant.
8 PM

Calf strengthening 2:00 [0]

4 x 10 heel raises.

Road bike 2:15:00 [2] 31.0 mi (4:21 / mi)

Out early as I'm helping Simon again this afternoon. Huddersfield, Marsden, Standedge, Diggle, Uppermill and back over Saddleworth Moor. Strong westerly so slow out on A62 but quite speedy back on the A635.

Gym 20:00 [2]

Garage circuits. Still no hopping.
10 PM

Mountain Bike 2:00:00 [2] 24.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Wessenden loop. Wet and windy. Canal towpath particularly wet and river and canal water levels very high.

Pilates 1:00:00 [0]

Achilles grumbly today. Hopefully will settle down if I don't run for a few days.
