Chilly, easy ride to the 1/2 marathon start.
9 AM

road run race 1:51:19 [4] 21.74 km (5:07 / km) +56m 5:03 / km
shoes: Saucony Peregrine 4

Sadly no PB and actually 20sec slower than 2 years ago when I was hung over and drove in from a girls weekend in Cwood. Clearly, I am better hung over with lack of sleep then just with lack of sleep. :-D
Passed JP starting his 3rd loop with Kathleen Wynne & I cheered him on a bit as I passed. He looked strong and Kathleen was smiling and chatty.
My toes wer numb for the first 3k due to the bike ride in. But otherwise weather wasn't bad. Almost ideal, really.
First 8k I held a fast pace for me. Probably too fast. The wheels came off then. I tried to get back on track, but strangely my right heel started hurting and I just couldn't keep the pace up. Oh well.
Great to see friends along the course, running, handing out gels & cheering.

Also happy to get a chance to test out my Wonder Woman socks before wearing them for a loop at JJ100 on Halloween. They stayed up. Yet, maybe they were the cause for the heel issue.

All good now. Back a little angry.

Note

Picked up my bib for the marathon this weekend & dropped down to the 1/2. Back is hurting too much (physio/acu booked for next week) & I need to taper before JJ100. Just wish it would warm up.
Really would rather not run it, but it is to raise money for an environmental not for profit and have been associated with for many years, Sustainability Network.

Thank you!

shoes: Saucony Peregrine 4

7 AM

Physio/osteo/massage (massage) 1 [0]

1hr massage by AprilB. She reminded me last week that she is a massage therapist and charges less when she does it from home. Yeah!
Back still needs a lot of work. Might have to hit a chiro or acupunture.
She also said my shoulders are a mess, particularly the right one. Which I figured as I have to stretch it out midway through a very long run.
However, my calves are great. Woohoo!
9 AM

zumba 55:00 [3]
shoes: Ryka Flextra

Total strength class. Back did not like the squat jumps etc...

Easy run w/ Dorota, followed by a soak in her hot tub. Great therapy for my sore lower back.

yoga 30:00 [1]

My lower back is killing me so much I broke down and took an advil. Skipped Zumba and then even decided 75min hot yoga would be too much. Thus settled for home yoga focusing on lower back stretches.
