Day 2; Kaiser Marathon. Changed course to last year with more climbing and more off road, 8km road section at the start instead of 18-20km. Patrick started much faster than I wanted him to and me and Shaban tried to keep up for the first 8km. I felt like I was climbing better than him on the undulations early on so didn't panic when he sped off down a hill at 7km. By 9km we were on a single trail with some short steep climbs and I took the lead. I was worried the fast start might cost me later and I should wait until 20km before trying to take the lead, but it was better just to keep the rhythm going and forget about where the others were. After a few longer climbs I had 2 minutes advantage on Patrick then it extended more. I felt really strong between 20 and 40km and enjoyed the feeling of having a nice gap behind me. The last part is the hardest so I still had to focus a lot. The final 1km was the toughest ever, took me about 12 minutes and was incredibly steep (even worse than last year). It was great to reach the finish in 1st and without any problems, and a 10minute lead
