3 PM

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]

Up past knockburn, nine stanes, down towards the slug road then back to banchory.
Was planning on running yesterday afternoon then again today but felt totally drained. Had no energy and resting pulse seemed to be very high.

Trail running warm up/down 16:00 [2] 2.0 mi (8:00 / mi) +50m 7:25 / mi

Easy run round some of the paths from greendams. Not feeling too energetic

Hill running race 1:07:00 [5] 8.73 mi (7:40 / mi) +630m 6:16 / mi

Clachnaben hill race on new route. Pretty awful run, felt good for the first mile then the legs just collapsed on the uphills. Had to watch Joe and Chris pulling miles ahead of me while struggling all the way, was lucky to get away with 3rd place. The pace I ran/walked on the main clachnaben climb felt slower than on a long training run.

New route was quite good except the descent off clachnaben; think everyone fell at least once or twisted an ankle. I did both. The ground was soft with lots of rocks and heather. The new route to the finish was nice

Feeling pretty sleepy after finishing this mornings run

Hill running 1:25:04 [3] 9.35 mi (9:06 / mi) +800m 7:11 / mi

4 times up scolty. Climbing well but descents weren't good, lots of slippery slushy mud. Clachnaben still has quite a lot of snow on it which is annoying. Could be pretty tough going on saturday
6 PM

Trail running 21:07 [3] 3.32 mi (6:22 / mi) +60m 6:01 / mi

Short loop round the wood. Feeling a bit tired to start with, probably from too much report writing

Trail running warm up/down 17:42 [2] 2.5 mi (7:05 / mi) +35m 6:47 / mi

Road running intervals 17:26 [5] 3.03 mi (5:45 / mi) +200m 4:46 / mi

10 times up corsee hill then along burnett road. Jog down corsee road for recovery. Did 3x120m strides on the road afterwards.

Feeling a bit tired, getting smoother towards the end. Working hard

Road running warm up/down 17:03 [2] 2.1 mi (8:07 / mi)

Jog down recovery
6 PM

Trail running 41:55 [3] 6.39 mi (6:34 / mi) +270m 5:48 / mi

A few bits round some of the lower trails at scolty and one section near the top of the hill. Legs feeling great after being a bit tired this morning. Snow mostly melted from paths with just a few mins of slushy running on the higher path

Tuesday Apr 3, 2012 #

12 PM

Trail running 42:47 [3] 6.54 mi (6:33 / mi) +100m 6:15 / mi

Crathes loop, legs moving well but a few sore bits from yesterday. Lots of slush and surface water
7 PM

Road running 30:01 [4] 5.25 mi (5:43 / mi) +60m 5:31 / mi

Road loop round banchory. Started steady then got some quicker miles in. The last mile was painful, hail stones were coming in on a headwind. I was breathing them in and couldn't keep my eyes open

Monday Apr 2, 2012 #

10 AM

Hill running 58:53 [3] 7.84 mi (7:31 / mi) +500m 6:16 / mi

From home up scolty twice and back, climbing well. Pretty cold day
3 PM

Note

Walked from glen tanar to the bottom of mount keen in the afternoon with all the heavy camping gear then the snow started so we decided to head back home again. Walked for 5-6 hours carrying lots of weight, legs sore afterwards
