Easy jog down the track and back from the hostel, just to loosen the legs

Decent warm up run, a few strides etc

Hill running race 44:46 [5] 6.13 mi (7:18 / mi) +550m 5:43 / mi

Home international, Melmerby. Uphill only mountain race but different to the ones I've been used to. Fast start on the road then a wet grassy climb followed by a few miles of undulating bog. Difficult conditions underfoot. Sat behind Murray and Chris on the road then attacked the climb. Morgan and Orlando were not far behind on the way up. Just before the top I started to struggle as the ground was soft and I was having to jump over peat hags and bogs. Not ran on terrain like it all summer! The three of us got the top close together then hit the fast boggy running. Me and Morgan pulled away slightly and were battling for about a mile, trying to get the best lines over the ground. On the drier ground and short uphills I was pulling away but the softer ground slowed me. On one uphill bit I got a small gap and managed to hold on to win by 11s. Chris and Murray moved through on the boggy ground to get 3rd and 4th. Happy to end the season with this!

Easy run back towards the town with Chris and Murray. Didn't make it all the way, got to the main road and got a lift

Easy run wth Garry over some of the course for the home international. Some of the first bit was on private land so we had to run in from a different direction and cut across the steep overgrown hillside. Very wet underfoot, not many paths

Back to normal at last. Feeling good, put in one faster mile just to check. Round brathens and inchmarlo. Had to climb over some felled trees which slowed me down.
