Hill running 2:18:31 [3] 15.01 mi (9:14 / mi) +900m 7:47 / mi

Feeling tired and a bit stiff after yesterday, in need of a slow hilly run. Went up Peter Hill then through Birse woods and up Tom's Cairn. Peter Hill was awful after halfway with deep snow on the path with a thin ice crust on top. The ice wouldn't hold my weight so broke through every step and it was strength sapping. Tried to add in the steep climb up the south face but descending off the top wasn't great and there was more snow than I thought. Did two miles in 33 minutes up there! Still a nice run in sunny weather

Trail running warm up/down 22:30 [2] 3.0 mi (7:30 / mi) +40m 7:12 / mi

Warm up run round the Stirling uni campus. Strides and a few other exercises as well

Cross country race race 34:55 [5] 6.54 mi (5:20 / mi) +40m 5:14 / mi

BUCS cross country at Stirling. Good course with varied terrain and a few wee hills. The competition was pretty tough so it was difficult to know what tactics to use. Ended up going off fast with Lachlan on the small lap at the start. We were leading until halfway round the first big lap out of three and then about 12 guys went passed in one group. I thought we'd underestimated the opposition and were about to lose a lot more places. I sat in the pack for a few minutes to recover then started the second big lap feeling good again. Managed to pick off a few guys and get in to 9th place with a group of three just in front, including Lachlan. Spent the rest of the race trying to close the 10 second gap on the group but it didn't happen. Had nobody that close behind either so it was a bit annoying. In the end I was 9th but the places from 2nd to 8th were very close and I was 9 seconds behind the next two guys. Still a good result

Extended Tom's Cairn loop going up through the forest behind Finzean house on the way up. Strides at the end of the run. Best timed run ever; completely dry during all the way then torrential rain and strong winds straight after I finished
