Hill running 2:12:21 [3] 16.09 mi (8:14 / mi) +1000m 6:54 / mi

Three climbs of Birnam hill then back to Murthly. Had been pouring rain all night and was still awful weather. The ground was pure mud with water running over the top. Nice to be running up steep hills though. Whole body feeling stiff after yesterday

Cross country race race 39:05 [5] 7.32 mi (5:20 / mi) +100m 5:07 / mi

Nationals at Falkirk. Pretty disappointed with 7th place. Started off feeling a bit sluggish and not getting in to a rhythm. Kept slipping in the mud and losing ground, especially on the uphills. Dropped from 3rd to 8th place between 2km and 4km in to the race. At this point I was really struggling and not enjoying it at all so eased off slightly to try and regain my strength. At 7km in I felt good again and managed to start racing properly. I pushed hard on the last lap alongside Sean Fontana to get in to 4th with 1km to go with 3rd place a few seconds ahead. On the last steep hill I slid around too much and lost a few vital seconds. Couldn't stick with the fast pace of Alex and Sean then got outsprinted by Ali Hay in the last 100m. All in all very disappointing not to be able to feel like I was racing properly for much of the race. The harder I pushed the more I slipped in the mud, it just got stuck on my studs. We don't have any thick clay/mud like that up north! At least that's my last cross country race for a long time

Trail running warm up/down 48:00 [2] 6.0 mi (8:00 / mi) +100m 7:36 / mi

Decent warm up run and strides plus a long cool down with Joe and Tom through the forest. Tired on the warm up and even more tired on the cool down

Road running intervals 21:53 [5] 4.45 mi (4:55 / mi) +40m 4:47 / mi

4 x 30s strides then 4 x 1 mile. No wind at all, felt so easy for once. Last proper session before the National cross country

Road running 38:59 [3] 5.24 mi (7:26 / mi) +200m 6:39 / mi

Horrible run, can barely even remember where I went. Combination of darkness and fog so the head torch was useless. Couldn't see anything but somehow got some miles in
