Trail running warm up/down 1:06:58 [3] 9.1 mi (7:22 / mi) +150m 7:00 / mi

Decent warm and cool down in the forest plus easy running between intervals. Quite a cold day so the snow was a bit icy and the top layer not melted

Road running intervals 9:16 [5] 2.0 mi (4:38 / mi)

Session on the cleared bit of road; 1km, 800m, 600m, 400m, 200m, 200m all with long recovery jog. A bit windy and cold but happy with the speed. Once the snow melts it leaves a covering of horrible big chunks of gravel on the pavements which is very unpleasant to run on

Trail running 2:00:29 [3] 15.2 mi (7:56 / mi) +800m 6:49 / mi

Long loop to Buchen and Wildmoos on some nice compacted snow. Quite a few icy patches but they were easy to see. Legs stiff from the race

Road running 1:21:54 [3] 11.1 mi (7:23 / mi) +230m 6:56 / mi

Run from Armagh. Feeling tired after such a late night, with the prize giving at midnight. Legs stiff after the race and they didn't enjoy running on road again. I found a small grassy hill with some paths on it but it was a few miles away. On the plus side I got back just before they finished serving cooked breakfasts in the hotel

Road running 31:32 [2] 4.19 mi (7:32 / mi) +70m 7:09 / mi

In Armagh, trying to find somewhere off road to run but failing. Feeling a bit tired from the journey but legs fine

Road running warm up/down 35:00 [2] 4.5 mi (7:47 / mi) +100m 7:17 / mi

Decent warm up jog plus strides then 15 minutes cool down after. Definitely needed to loosen the legs off

Road running race 14:25 [5] 3.12 mi (4:37 / mi)

Armagh 5k. Top class field and flat course, 5 laps of a circuit, although in the dark with just streetlights. This made it quite hard for me to judge the pace and I went very fast for the first part, I would hate to see spilt times. It felt quite comfortable with so many other guys running fast but then it hit me with 2km to go and I slowed down a lot, so did lots of others though. I was pushed all the way to the line and lost some places in the last 400m which annoyed me. These track guys can really sprint at the end of a race. Happy to get a PB by 20s, I had no idea how it would go after not racing for over 6 weeks. Doing a race like this makes me realise I need to be 20 seconds quicker to be a decent road runner, I was only 24th place.

Road running 57:34 [3] 9.2 mi (6:15 / mi) +90m 6:04 / mi

Run with faster efforts mixed in. Tried to use the cycle road but it had lots of ice patches so I found some other roads

Hill running 1:32:11 [3] 9.8 mi (9:24 / mi) +700m 7:42 / mi

Over Rechberg and Stuifen. Snow and ice most of the way even though it was warm and has been the last few days. It doesn't melt quick
