Running (Bike Trail) 47:33 [3] 5.0 mi (9:31 / mi)
shoes: Wave Nirvana 3

It has been 4 weeks since I last did any road running or training. Not by plan, but just a series of unforeseen circumstances. Steve and I last ran together on Christmas Eve. I was gone the days after Christmas, he was gone the week after that. It snowed, I was tied up with field checking and course planning for a week, then came down with the flu; that was 10 days out. Then Steve and I were out of sync on run days; I had Orienteered on a Saturday, he ran Friday/Sunday. So finally I ended with a three day trip to the Navigator Cup,with a day's rest, I was ready for a Tuesday run.

Unfortunately mother nature threw us a curve with predicted morning temperatures at about 5° - wind chills in the minuses. So we agreed on a 2 PM run when the temperatures were about 17°, sunny, and less windy. It was nice. I actually stripped my hat, gloves, neck band, and rolled up my sleeves. But of course, once we stopped, it was cold again in less than a minute.

Much better performance today. Could not have run faster. Although the added speed lended to a couple of minor errors. I am delighted with this run. The course was fun. Physically challenging for my current fitness level. The legs were a little simple a times. So my competition did correspondingly better as well. So you will have to take my word on my improvement. :)

Hard Labor State Park, Rutledge, GA.

Beautiful day, great courses; but the vegetation was a snaggle of tripping, viney, devil thick, branch ridden, nightmare. Add that to my recent lack of training, and even more recent Brewery touring, and you get a undermotivated Orunner. I am not happy with my physical performance on this day. I gave up 10 minutes to sluggish walk/running up and down the hills.

I could have done much better.
