run 1:15:22 [3] 11.69 km (6:27 / km) +159m 6:02 / km
slept:5.0 shoes: Asics GT 1000 #3

Land Cove River (N) loop from new office. Two bush tracks within a few hundred metres of office, got to be happy with that. Back to bird baths though.

This was a bit further than I thought it would be - need to work harder on tapering.

orienteering 40:25 [3] 4.0 km (10:06 / km) +96m 9:01 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (#3)

SL1, Wattle Ridge.

Very technical, with thick, very low visibility bush. Not as rough underfoot as Aydat, but the white was greener. Probably mark everything on the map (even the yellow) up by one grade of green.

If this was a long distance it would have been an epic.

A little hesitant going to #1, but got contact with the mapping I thought.
#4, lost contact early, but bit group of big boulders was giveaway.
#5, lost contact early again trying to find first rockline, found myself looking above lower rockline at creek.

Probably went a little too far on track for #9, but it cost seconds and #9 was the only leg with any track/path...

Coming into #10, thought I'd figured control, saw Toby coming from my left, he fell as he dropped down crag line and made a big hole in his head. Quick check that he was compos mentis and he decided to go back [fact he thought he wasn't alright shows he was less concussed than me at NSW ch last year :) ]

Then slow to #11 - thinking about whether I should double back and see him to the finish or not. At this point I needed magnifier to pick the lines between the cliffs... but I bumbled on above and past control and came down creek. Lost maybe 2 minutes on #10,#11.

Get to finish and realise that I started the course with a magnifier - must have left it when I looked at Toby's head. May revert to compas mounting for it.
