Note
(injured)

Managed whole day without crutches and (I think) daytime naps, although I used the car for outings, so not a good comparison. Anyway definitely less pain whatever the cause.

Note
(injured)

Almost got all the way to work (via 2 buses) without crutches, but was getting sore by the time I crossed Epping Road. Feels like an overnight improvement, in contrast to last few days (well, nights).

bush walk 30:00 [2] 1.5 km (20:00 / km)
(injured)

Attempted walk to get bus without crutches. Got about 150m , then too painful.

So - crutching for amateurs is a lot like xc skiing for occasional skiers. You develop a few half baked strategies for hills, steep and shallow, up and down. A few alternate techniques for resting sore leg or armpits... And when you get really tired it all goes to pot.
