Took the opportunity to run the longest course in a desperate bid to boost my pink rankings before the end of the year. Think I had state league stitched up.

Realised at the start that I had forgotten my compass, borrowed N from a W10 with same start. Did have bifocals.

Clean early and picked no-stairs option to #1. Hesitated on RC for #5, probably got right route at #9, #13 (both W choice) by luck. Surprised to be in 2nd place at the spectator control, then navigated most of way to #25 rather than #22.

Chuffed with coming 2nd rather than last.

Despite the weather forecast saying rain for Friday night/Saturday, it stayed dry - two big streams of storms, one hitting the coast just S of the CBD and one over the mountains have been running from the N for over 24 hours without us getting wet.

Some new hotmix on the outbound to Akuna, sadly including over where somebody had painted "Andy" on the road. Pace a bit brisker than I wanted, first Hamish, then NSCC guys. With the tailwind and a strong peleton we did about 55km/h most of the way along Mona Vale.

Last solo bit I rode with an old friend through Chatswood, although he didn't recognise me.

Long run to work via W side of river. Probably stumbling out of bed and running without warming up isn't a great idea, but its hard to stop and make yourself stretch at that time.

Managed to ride the loop under the bridge and back onto it without dabbing my foot - first time since they rebuilt the Chatswood end of that footpath.
