I guess that Michele started a minute or 90 seconds after me ? Anyway she was on my tail early, after a couple of tiny errors. Running hard I got a small gap, but then messed up easy control on edge of copse. After that I was just trailing her in.

Was also running a lot of the race with a guy who had a regular SI stick which led to confusion at the control as he out-bodied me while I tried to wave-punch. Later he cut through some OOB garden to get a break (I vented at him) but came undone at the end.

Happily I had to zip home quickly so missed the opportunity to be an obnoxious idiot.

Note

Registering complete failure to surf. I've been waiting all week for the big swell to drop off and it finally did.
Waxed board yesterday, scouted surf on my bike, came back, grabbed board and realised leg rope was broken.

So I decided to grab the leg rope from Alexa's board which is even more unloved. She has a fancy pants cover for it (rather than a big sock). Zip puller came off in my hand. Locate pliers from car. Zip still stuck. Locate mandatory wd40 in rental house. I finally get one bit of zip moving, the other opener only goes in that same direction (IE closing) because of broken tooth.

I eventually realise that I have just enough space to be able to reach the leg rope anchor point inside the cover and unfasten it

Traditional abortive attempt to reach Green Island. Didn't even bother checking the tides, the swell is so big it would be irrelevant.

Didn't get lost on the Manyana claypan because some idiots are building all over it (did get lost trying to figure out where it was). This is right behind the foredune (and obviously lower than it). Clowns.

Run to/from the mythical waterfall (outbound with Alexa). Found the site, but no water. On the return trip, the big waves and high tides were getting into the lagoooon.
