BF training event Dragon Bones. Took a while to remember how orienteering works, came unstuck en route to 3 running down parallel valley, then unhinged and turned around at #8 - looks like I hit a bigger than expected side spur, lost confidence in my navigation to the control thus far and ran away from it.

Nice break from work... and now I look at the picture from the AP display of my GPS I understand what I saw on the ground - that dam must have failed or overflowed fairly catastrophically at some point in the recent past, in the valley below is a fan shaped area where the trees are all gone or dead.
