Orienteering race (Metro series) 35:00 [4] ***

First summer series metro event for many years. Had one goal to achieve - to not walk at any stage and I'm pleased to say I did just that. Went north at the start around the cricket match and then headed west under the highway, picked up the controls over that side, came back across the overpass and made a bee line for the finish.
It took an effort to do all the things one should do in orienteering - thumbing the map, memorising the description and number on the way to each control and preparing the card to make punching as quick as possible. Did not do that all the time but felt I didn't waste too much time so that was pleasing. Felt like I was plodding and I'm a little stiff and sore today.
Navigation was straight forward and did not over shoot or miss any controls. However, as I look at the map now, I wonder if I could have chosen a more economical route.
Wasn't really looking forward to this event, but I am hoping to do the next one.
Cant remember the exact time but a quick look at the results string suggested I was middle of the pack. On a medium. Sigh.

Decided to forgo training a cook up a spagh bol and failed at that. Pretty bland concoction. Blehhh! No Tabasco to add - my 7 year old bottle has disappeared. And forgot to add the old tomato sauce. Lots left over. Will add carrots to it tonight and turn the remainder into shepherds pie.
Just dont feel like training at the moment.

Garratt Rd/Redcliffe Bridge circuit with 2711. Just as well she came home all fired up with enthusiasm otherwise I would have bombed on the couch. I nearly let her go by herself. It was only the thought that I would never hear the end of it that got me out the door. Thank goodness for small mercies.
