Cycling 1:39:15 [3] 40.28 km (24.4 kph)

Fixed the flat and replaced the tyre with a Gator Hardshell. Rode out to UWA and then through Nedlands to Karrakatta and back along the railway line to Subi and Perth and finally up the Midland line and off at Tonkin before going the back streets to home. Wasn't really sure where I was going to end up when I started and just went exploring. Discovered lots of things.
1. There are two unleashed dogs out there whose Ipod earphoned owner claims will alert her when a cyclist is coming and immediately come to heel if only the cyclist will ring his bell instead of frightening the crap out of her and sending the said dogs into a suicidal dash across the cyclist's trajectory which then sent him into the bushes rather than avoid turning them into roadkill. I'd like to recreate Schrodinger's experiment with the two mutts using an airtight box.
2. Followed, for the first time, the cycle path up the Freo line through Subi and onto Perth, seeing all the oft mentioned landmarks described by Juffy, tRicky and Lost_Richard. How you guys get across the pedestrian bridge at Wellington every day without killing yourself or someone else is beyond me.
3. Must have been a busy night for cycle path drinking with loads of broken beer bottles on the Midland line. Kept hoping they used the broken bottles for some mutual glassing attacks but unfortunately I didn't see any prone bodies or splashes of blood.

Orienteering race (Wireless Hill Metro) 31:39 [4] 5.0 km (6:20 / km)
shoes: New Balance 753's

Medium course again and finished middle of the pack again, but feel I made a better fist of it physically. Lost a little time at 16 looking for the right light pole. And someone messed around with the punch at 26, putting a cable tie on it so the punch chewed up my control card. Felt like i might still have some runner in me for the first time in ages although I know I still have a long way to go. Route choice is another matter and even now, looking at the map without time pressure, I still can't see a good way to collect the necessary controls with the shortest possible distance.
Got button holed by Bryan Hardy who, without even a hello, had a bitch about a rogaine matter and reminded me of one of the reasons why I try and stay clear of him. Amazing that he has been such a rude person for so long that it seems you just accept it as being Bryan being Bryan. Why can't I think of all of the snappy and cutting comebacks that his manner deserves, when I'm there on the spot?

Walking 32:20 [2] 3.5 km (9:14 / km)

Two laps of the neighbourhood block. Didn't want to risk two days in a row of running just yet plus I'm hoping for a big day tomorrow - cycling and metro-ing. IF I can get the frigging tyre fixed. It seems the tyre, being about 10 years old is just too old and hard to remove. Need to purchase a couple of new tyres today.

First actual "run". Hurt like hell but at least it was cool. Got home and collapsed back into bed. Knee seems to be holding up at the moment

Walking 1:15:00 [2] 8.5 km (8:49 / km)
shoes: New Balance 753's

Thursday night walk brought forward. Attending a high school graduation tomorrow night (and no, not my own). Will see if I can go for a walk in the morning or something at lunch time. Tonight with John and Ros, around Lake Monger we went. Very pleasant evening.

This AP stuff must work because in the normal course of events, given the lack of regular exercise in the last few weeks, by now I would have just slid back into a habit of inactivity. But reading the efforts of others (even the good natured sledging of a few) I found the mojo to do something.

And some do me undue credit by reading my crap and commenting.

Cheers

Very little exercise explains it all

Walking 35:25 [2] 3.2 km (11:04 / km)

Wanted to go for a ride with 2711 but the slow leak in the front tyre is now a fast leak and wont stay firm. I hate changing tubes. Went for a walk instead. Air temp definitely has summer feel to it
