Note
Bit overdue to lay out some training goals for the year, but here we go. No idea what the summer will bring in terms of travel and racing opportunity, and 2020 was a rough year both physically and mentally, so I definitely need to do better. The PT for my foot is going well so far, with another month or two at least, so plan there is to ease back into running, starting with 2x/week, probably just 2-3 miles at a time and see how the foot feels in 3-4 weeks.
Started making reservations to use the indoor pool at least 2x/week, as well. I let myself get out of swimming practice once the outdoor pool closed because the indoor pool seemed like a higher risk, but realistically, hardly anyone is ever there, so I think the risk is acceptable.
I'm still not comfortable with using the drill hall for indoor workouts, the ventilation was always poor there, even in the before times. But, I have the rower at home, as well as an indoor trainer for my bike, so no excuses even on cold or rainy days. And I have good, warm bike clothing as well, so I really need to just HTFU and ride outside, too.
2019 was a good year for me, in terms of getting back into shape, and even somewhat competitive on the local tri circuit, so that seems like a good place to start as far as overall goals. If I can get back my 2019 levels of fitness by the end of this year, that will put me in a good spot for 2022, when hopefully we'll see a return to a more robust racing schedule, and maybe even be able to plan for things more than a month in advance.
