Mt Suribachi run. Very surreal and profound experience. As the t-shirt says "what once took 38 days now takes less than half an hour". The view and the monuments at the top of the mountain were more than worth it. next time I'm hoping to run the whole island. official run time-12:03

got some bikes from MWR (sans brakes, incidentally) and biked around the island and to invasion beach with Api and Martha.

Arrived in Iwo Jima this afternoon. Very hot and humid down here. Took advantage of my afternoon off to go for a bit of a jog around the island

Ran around base for about half an hour, but it was pouring rain and freezing cold, so I went over to the track to run some intervals and warm up before the Chewy's bbq.

Had duty today, so I was limited to staying on base. I'm still trying to find this "nature trail" that everyone keeps talking about, but I did run around the golf course for while.

Figured Chewy and Yetti will kick my butt if I don't keep lifting while we're on shore, so I went to the Halsey gym to check out the equipment there-not bad.

Spent the day wandering around Tokyo with OhNo and our FNG. Had a great time, but wanted to get out of Shinjuku before rush hour, so we ended up getting home fairly early. Went for another run around base, my knee was feeling a bit twingy again, so I took it fairly easy.

Finally got over to the pool on base to check it out. very nice! a little on the warm side, though.

It's been a full month since I injured my right knee in KL, so I figured it was time to take it out for a bit of a test run on some actual pavement/trails. Ran around base for half an hour, easy/medium intensity, and so far-so good. A little twingyness right behind the kneecap, but much better than it has been.
