Note
Odyssey off-road half ironman
swimming (lake) 30:00 [3] 1.2 mi (24:59 / mi)
Odyssey 1/2 IM swim. water temperature was great, despite all the 48 deg horror stories i'd heard from 2 years ago. wanted to pace myself and not go out too quickly, but ended feeling like i could have gone significantly faster.
biking (mtb) 6:45:00 [3] 48.0 mi (8:26 / mi)
mtb section. the roads were all loose gravel and the single track was almost completely un-ridable. between miles 28 and 48 i got 3 flats. i only had 2 spare tubes on me :( oh well, lesson learned-you can never have too many spares. got a ride back to the TA and officially dnf'd. bummer.
running (trail) 3:10:00 [3] 13.1 mi (14:30 / mi)
since i had plenty of daylight left, and was feeling ok, i decided to unofficially finish the race. my legs felt like they'd been through a meat grinder, but the view from the top of the mountain was worth it. the descent felt like someone was sticking an ice pick through my knees, but i was pleasantly surprised that they held out that long. the nearly 10,000' of climb over the entire course nearly destroyed my quads and knees. i need to find some hills around here to train on.

Wednesday Sep 6

swimming (pool) 1:00:00 [3] 3 km (20:00 / km)
swimming at the base pool with Olena. 300 warm-up, 500m pyramid, 200 cool down.
strength/core (abs/arms) 20:00 [2]

Sunday Sep 3

running (road) 1:00:00 [2] 6.5 mi (9:13 / mi)
easy jog around the neighborhood. was planning on doing around 8 mi, but james was getting cranky because he wanted to go to dinner. and i was getting hungry, too.
