| Probably the worst run I've had in ages. Went out with a plan to work on running while staying in contact with the map, formulating a clear plan for attacking each leg, sticking to said plan, and not wasting time needlessly by stopping to stare at my map even when i had a good idea where i was. Yeah, not so much. I can safely say that I accomplished none of those things. The biggest problem was that I couldn't concentrate or form a plan to save my life. It's pretty much a miracle I'm not still out there, given my aimlessly wandering approach to today's course. Overall, I'd estimate that my lack of cognitave skills cost me at least 25 minutes or so of errors, with the rest of my slowness due to my usual grace (read: tripping all over everything and walking into things everytime I tried to read my map). Ironically, as I was jogging to the start, I thought "finally, I managed not to overdress for a run!" less than an hour later I was really wishing I'd worn a warmer shirt afterall, and by control 6 or so, I was so cold I could barely move and tying my shoes was a 2+ minute exercise in futility. |
