Another 0315 wakeup for Snotbucket McPinchyfingers. This is fun.

spoke too soon. Katherine was up at 0400, and now she's learned to pinch. awesome.

swimming 30:00 [3]

2 weeks in a row that the students all passed with no remediation! And so that meant I had time to jump in the pool and swim for a bit after class. Katherine's latest sleep strike seems to be resolved, so I've had a couple nights of decent sleep, woohoo!

orienteering 1:37:00 [3]

Another wet, muddy day for orienteering, but at least Clopper lake isn't quite as steep as Patapsco was a couple weeks ago, so there was less slipping and sliding involved. Not sure where my head was at when I started, but it sure wasn't reading the map. Lost several minutes as I stubbornly tried to make everything make sense going to #1, before realizing I had my map flipped 180 degrees. ouch. The course also seemed to be custom designed to force me to do things I don't like, like wading though mid-calf or knee deep water on the way to each control. This was good for me though, once I resigned myself to wet feet, I could focus on planning my route and executing well, rather than wasting time staring at the swollen creeks hoping a bridge would magically appear. And it turns out my feet won't melt or fall off from being wet, who knew?! Fortunately the rain stopped by the time I got there, too, and the reasonably warm temps made for a very pleasant day in the woods.
