Orienteering Meet race 28:36 [4] *** 3.1 km (9:14 / km)
ahr:141 max:161 spiked:10/10c shoes: Solomon

Sprint 1 Papago Park. Real nice area for a sprint, good run ability with no cactus!
Nefhews went in teams of 2. Passed up one team, but they all enjoyed the event along with a friend. Maybe they will try it against I hope.

Still could not run very fast, but good enough to get a good workout.

Orienteering Meet race 42:00 [4] *** 4.3 km (9:46 / km)
ahr:134 max:154 spiked:12/12c shoes: Solomon

Sprint 2 Papago Park. Actually an easier course. But a nice sprint in the desert. Could not match the intensity of earlier, but fun nav just the same.

Orienteering Meet race 1:54:00 [4] *** 7.0 km (16:17 / km)
spiked:5/14c

Tucson, this was pretty vague terrain, with just gully and washes to nav by. Some were hard to read unless they had lots of green in them and you could try to pick them up. The angle of the north lines were not straight, not sure if that's the reason I was off on my bearing or not. A couple of friends did not finish the course.

Orienteering Meet race 2:52:00 [4] *** 10.6 km (16:14 / km) +450m 13:23 / km
spiked:20/25c shoes: Icebug #4's

Tucson Goat. Not a great run, with some bad judgement. One was using my sunglasses with readers. Should of used clear ones.
But the weather was not hot, low 70's maybe. Windy too.
This was in the grasslands type area with little cactus. Footing was rocky under the high grass, so could never get moving fast.
This was skip one control, which since I drifted bad on no3, relocated and found 4, I just decided to move on. That was another mistake.
Lots of grassy Spurs to climb and was just tired and losing concentration. Overall good hill workout for the California meet middle of next month.
Overall GPS said I covered 14.5 k

Orienteering Meet 54:58 intensity: (5 @1) + (2:45 @2) + (37:58 @3) + (11:29 @4) + (2:41 @5) 5.95 km (9:14 / km) +146m 8:13 / km
ahr:136 max:181

Madnaess style run. Mass start, some of the best woods Chicago has to offer.
Great visibility, steep and slippery gullies.
I could of skipped 3 controls, but have to get ready for the Arizona and the heat..
This was of one course training runs that was set by Mr Naess himself.

So you know it was gonna be good.

XC-Skiing race 3:27:25 [5] 52.0 km (3:59 / km)

Birkie no 27 complete. It was 37 degrees the whole time.
The trail was actually still good shape and still fairly fast.
I started easy and was strong at the end.
I eliminated all my mistakes from last year, so this was enjoyable the whole time... Even climbing the hills. My skis were fast onthe downhills.
I did get tripped right at the beginning, so I then waited a minute to start on the chip timing.
Overall great day!!
