| Walk 1:23:50 [2] 6.2 mi (13:31 / mi) | ||
| 10K Race and my ribs hurt so bad, I could only walk and jog a little till it hurt so bad. I quit and started walking back to the finish when I turned around and decided to just walk the 6.2 miles . This guy jogging real slow asked me at about the mile mark if I was walking or running. I said not sure and my walk was his jog pace and we had an excellent conversation for the nex t4.5 miles. Turned out he was a retired school teacher, had been to Allendale for a follow up on a couple of kids and has taught at a camp, orienteering before :),,,, you know the compass stuff without a map.
We moved at about 13:30 pace. Nice day and of course Clark had his usual run in with a fat lady hoging up the wide trail. luckey i did not see any of that cause it gets embarsseing when people at races come up to Clark mad cause he bumped them out of the way in his mad attempt to finish the race in a great time. I finished up 90/91 in my age group. Could someone be slower than I or more hurt. Anyway no more hard physical activities or restraints except some biking the next couple of days.
Saturday Oct 27 | ||
| Road Riding 55:00 [2] 10.0 mi (5:29 / mi) | ||
| After a long day of brush clearing and a sunny day it was time to head out for a short ride and test out the cracked/ sore rib. I will still race tomorow, though it might be slower than normal. | ||
Thursday Oct 25 | ||
| Running 40:00 [3] 3.5 mi (11:25 / mi) | ||
| OUCH, I bruised a rib and more today at work. This I consider only the 2nd time I really got hurt in 27 years in my job. I went to break up a fight in the dining hall, with some female staff caught in the middle and when I pulled the big kid back to the ground, my back hit the edge of the table. It hurt, I reported it to the nurse's just in case. It didn't feel real bad till I tried to run and breath deep. ouch it hurt and was hard to breath. I hope to get better soon. | ||
| C • Broken rib? 1 | ||

Post meet picked up about 11 e. punch stands and headed to Country Lane Woods for control placement till 6:00pm and on to the Big Blues party. This was a blast!!!even though we only heard 3 blues songs.

| Orienteering Meet race 1:10:45 [5] ***** 5.3 km (13:21 / km) +190m 11:19 / km | ||
| Day 2 Western Champs. Well with the rush to get to the airport on time, Clark and i started early, actually the first 2 out. It was great to be on a course with no one around. A few bobbels around the first 3 controls, jsut lococatin the bag really and than picked up the pace and the nav was good. i got just a bit sloppy at 13 cause i mistook a junction for the wrong one. Than I totally bombed the last control, I just drifited to the southand had to relcoate. a simple control that took the winners 2-3 minutes took me almost 10. i would of should of placed at least third today. Dissapointed with my runs, but the trip was great. lots of good beers and scenery. The flight home sucked after returning back to San Fran after taking off and gettin on a new plane it ended up 4 hours late and I sat across a lady who was given a break that they did not write her up for disorderly conduct on a plane. | ||
| C • Should have stayed out here 2 | ||

It got worse berfore it got better and I just hung on to finish anyway. Really poor showing could be, yes its about as bad as a vouple of days in Finland. But i always come back.
Thursday Oct 11 | ||
| Orienteering Related 24:00 [4] *** 2.2 km (10:55 / km) | ||
| I ran the Adler Sprint from Sunday and it was really cool. No e. punches and none were needed EXCEPT no 6 which was between 2 rootstocks, but the clue sheet said man-made feature. Soooooooooo, I actually went back when I was finished to see what it was supposed to be and sure enough it was the 2 rootstocks. Oh well fun new map map by Joe Sackett. | ||
| C • Man doesn't make rootstocks 1 | ||
Wednesday Oct 10 | ||
| Running 47:00 [3] 5.0 mi (9:23 / mi) | ||
| Windy cold day, so I went to Bristol Woods for my run. I did 2 mile warm-up and than tried to tempo again, no luck so it was just a good 3 mile run. | ||
Tuesday Oct 9 | ||
| Running tempo 1:00:00 [4] 5.0 mi (11:59 / mi) | ||
| Went to Parkside track for a workout, and the track was just redone. So of to jog down road to trail where we tempo ran 20 minute run. We jogged back and did 3 X 400 repeats, on the new track. The lines were not in and at the steeple chase pit it all blended in and it was poor light. | ||
Monday Oct 8 | ||
| Mt. Biking 1:31:00 [3] 14.0 mi (6:29 / mi) | ||
| Just another great ride on South Marquette trails. It was the same type of loop that ends coming down pioneer trail, and that is one of the most fun curves and dips and ups and downs. Back for shower, pasty and head home. | ||
Sunday Oct 7 | ||
| Mt. Biking 2:00:00 [3] 16.0 mi (7:30 / mi) | ||
| Real Mt. Biking in Marquette, MI. We did the usual route from Twohey's house and the finish is some of the finest and fun trails you can ever ride.
There was also a demo close by where we tried bikes with 29 inch wheels. They could make through the sand where 26 inch wheels could not. We also finished the afternoon with a fine 3 hour sail on Lake Superior in Knappies boat.
Thursday Oct 4 | ||
| Running 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi) | ||
| Warm up run at Bristol Woods in Kenosha county. A really cool park with 4.5 miles of winding, wooded trails. | ||
| Running 24:20 [4] 3.0 mi (8:06 / mi) | ||
| My usual tempo run at Bristol woods, what a nice day, no bugs and it looks like the trails have been worked on and are in great shape. | ||
Wednesday Oct 3 | ||
| Mt. Biking 1:18:00 [4] 18.0 mi (4:20 / mi) | ||
