| Hot humid night in Chi Town with Chi town Clark him self. Needed to test my fitness with a 5k run and I kept my streak of sub 21's going. Should be sub 20's. Nice swim in Lake Michigan after and a couple of goose Island's beers and some great food at one of Chicago's nicer neighborhood resturants. A 20 m+ minute hustle to get to train, it should count as training except it was after a couple of beers. | ||

We ran about 1 mile to the tempo trail run where we ran 10 min out and than turned back. I was just 36 seconds longer on way back. Than we ran back for some quarter repeats, mine were 1:32, 1:29, 1:27, 1:26. Than off to the bar for a couple of goose island beers, in Kenosha!!! | ||

Finally I had a map and day where I could run and see everything. My kind of course , somewhat like Wyoming :) I finished 36th, that was my best placement for the all the events including the Fin5 This was the way I want it to go as I could not secure a ride to Stockholm after Fridays race,, so it was kinda sad to miss the last day chase start. But nice to be heading home. | ||

| O-RINGEN Day 3, This is more like the maps I can run on. I nailed the first control perfect, a little off on the 2nd, but relocated quick. The 3rd control and easy one, except if you go by it and miss, there is a price to pay.. One more bad control and the day was over. | ||

| O-RINGEN Day 1, Here I am in the biggest O event in the world, fully confident after the Fin5, and I have nothing to show but more sloopy orienteering. Well in the end I found all the controls at about a 12 min TPK.
Problem was drifting compass nav and poor route choices. I was shy about taking direct routes through the swamp and opted for higher safe ground. It was an amazing sight of people, tents,colorfull teams and outfits.Walking the start of the ski race Moravasaloppet 93 K classical that started in 1922 was cool, because it starts flat and climbs uphill steep 3K. | ||

| Finn 5 ...Day 5 Last day and it started out with rock piles that it seemed if you were off ooops. Than 2 long legs with some good nav and a poor finish on the last control. Got my finishers medat and headed to the boat for the overnight cruise to stockholm. | ||

| Fin 5 Day 4. They changed the venue to a XC ski area. More climb and ski trails around. Still some tough controls. This was more my type of orienteering, use of trails and hills. I started slow and was actually aiming to the 2 nd control instead of the first. So that cost a minute or so. after that I was more cautious for the rest of the course. It still worked out with being just over 10 min per K. | ||

| Here we are at the FINN 5. Finally nmade with Miikka and Clark Maxfield. Today was a short day and with me having a late start. I did well, under 10 min per KKK i n finland Yahooo. I hope it continues like this. Only one real mistake and that was taking the slow powerline route and not going straight at it. | ||

| It was humid and hikng with my school camping group. Than came the storm at night that broke poles in 2 tents and also ripped the rain flys.. The winds must of pushed down the tents so hard the poles snapped, one aluminum and one fiberglass.
One other tent rolled down the hill and was a muddy mess. It was time to abort this campout and head to a hotel. Luckey we did cause the storm had another cell that hammered again. Lots of tree branches down all over. | ||

| Sprint 2 and i lost a lot of time by not crossing the river and going around to the trail to no 6. No 1 was a little hard to see and had to jump a 5 ft creek and of course did not make it all the way. | ||

| This was a handicapped start so the slower runners would go out first. There were only 4 competitive runners today. A long leg to no.1 that had to go by the zoo and lots of traffic and people traffic. Thank God Clark was not there. This had more trail runs in the woods than the othere sprints. Pretty cool stuff. I finished 3rd out of 4. | ||
