| Back out early to finish hanging flagging tape. It was cold to keep taking gloves off and on. Really nice stuff here. finished up prelim points for the meet. | ||
| Cross Biking Rd/Trail 2:10:00 [4] 30.0 mi (4:20 / mi) | ||
| Ride on the Des Plaines Trail. Warm at the start by 6:00pm my hands were frezzing. Ouch it took 5 painfull minutes to warmup in the truck. I did have some light XC ski gloves. My toes were warm with my neoprem botties. | ||

| Orienteering Related 3:30:00 [3] | ||
| Planning for a big meet next fall. Cat's aganda is really one of the nicest places around to plan an orienteering meet. It has soooo many depressions that you better not lose contact when moving fast. The visibility was awesome. | ||
Sunday Oct 26 | ||
| Running race 43:27 [5] 10 km (4:21 / km) vdot: 47.2 | ||
| I was rushed in a long drive to the race. I felt ok and even though it was windy and 50 degress, I was over dressed. A couple of fossil teammates passed me up I ended up gettin them and nipping one in the last 20 meters. Overall not to bad and now the mad rush to get to an orienteering meet. total drive miles was 210 for the day. | ||

| It took me the first 2 controls to get moving. Not very direct compass bearing but good enough. We have some controls on low alum poles that make the control hard to see unless you are on top of it. I tried to avoid the barrberry as much as possible as it seems to be all over the map.
This was supposed to be an updated map, but there did not seem to be any new registrations, or new field work and some new trails as usual. I will have to compare this map to an older version to see new field work done.

| control pickup with a map. I was slow and sore after a big morning of racing. | ||

| Road Riding 2:30:00 [3] 31.5 mi (4:46 / mi) | ||
| Ride to park to watch my girls run xc country meet. The wind was super strong in my face the whole way. Boy was it nice going back home.
51 degrees and windy, but sunny. My xc ski gloves and wool socks work awesome. I will continue to make notes on the temp and riding, so I have record of dressing properly.
Friday Oct 24 | ||
| Running 33:00 [3] 4.0 mi (8:15 / mi) | ||
| Not so sore anymore and ran 15:08 for last 2 miles. Not quite ready for the 10k, but will still have fun running race and orienteering Sunday | ||

| Finally ran today. I met Steve Wikner and we did a tempo run after 1 mile warmup. It was 10 minutes out and 10 minutes back on a limestone trail. I am guessing 2.8 miles. Its been a long time since I ran and i felt it. I did not make it to my usual spot on the trail... but I came back 7 seconds faster and 10 beats Heartrate faster avg for the 2nd half. I had to take a whirlpool after cause I was so sore. I need at least 2 more days running for Sunday's 10K. | ||
Tuesday Oct 21 | ||
| Cross Biking Rd/Trail 2:09:00 [4] 30.0 mi (4:17 / mi) | ||

| Road Riding hills (Hilly Hundred Day 2) 3:42:00 [4] 52.0 mi (4:15 / mi) +3200m 2:14 / km | ||
| Day 2 Hilly Hundred outside Bloomington Indiana. Much nicer than day 1 as far as I am concerned with the big 22% grade climb at 38 miles. Weather was cool but sunny. I just didn't realy like coming down fast hills and lots of people. | ||

| Road Riding hills 3:30:00 [4] 50.0 mi (4:12 / mi) +3174m 2:11 / km | ||
| Day 1 Hilly Hundred outside of Bloomington,IN.. This area is an awesome area for biking, lots of up and down. Decent road surface and lots of big renentrants and valleys. Having a triple crank is a must. More shifting done than you can shake a stick at. Too much food and drink at the cabin the night before. | ||
Friday Oct 17 | ||
| Road Riding 2:15:00 [3] 28.0 mi (4:49 / mi) | ||
| The ride was at Phils lake cabin. It was an 8 mile loop that you could figure 8 and add more. It was hilly and for the first time I had to walk a hill on a road bike. The 2nd and 3rd time at the hill I got up with out walking. | ||
Thursday Oct 16 | ||
| Hiking 3:00:00 [2] 6.8 mi (26:28 / mi) | ||
| We started on Phils land that ajoins yellowood st forest. We were kinda looking for an old amuntion plant form the civil war. We founf the Tucumshe trail in yellowood and followed that. I was using a USG map with out the trails on them to try to figure out were we were going. | ||
Wednesday Oct 15 | ||
| Road Riding 4:00:00 [3] 50.0 mi (4:48 / mi) | ||
| It was a warm day in the southern Indiana area we rode. except my friends bugged out early and i went on to explore the nicest and most interestng area I have ever ridden. It was down by Nashville, IN. | ||

| Road Riding 3:32:00 [3] 42.6 mi (4:59 / mi) | ||
| Ride from the land with Tony, Gray and Phil. Phil had never ridden his bike from the land so I plotted out a course that should get us 40 + miles. We rode through Yellowood St. Forest whre years agoClark and I ran around in a Rogaine. I always thought the area would make great O but not yet. This area was as cool as I remember, and needs more time to explore and discover. | ||

| Road Riding 2:00:00 [3] 22.0 mi (5:26 / mi) | ||
| My first Indiana ride from Phils land. He owns a sweet 110 acres surrunded by Yellowood State Forest. I camped at the creekside in the middle of some huge rentrants, and the colors of the leaves were peaking.
I just started getting a feeling of the hills around there. NICE

| Lewis & Clark 12 Hour Rogaine. "The Return of The Cup" We did it!!!!!!!!!!
In my first quick measurment I had 37.5K straight line distance covered and actual 48 K . After 2 years ago of the most bobbled up trip, we came prepared and rested. The temps were going to be 86 degrees for a high (ouch) and this was a big factor for Joe. He came through, and we both got beat up, but we finished strongly but tired. We are Ying and Yang. When one yings the other yangs. Our navagation was damn near perfect. The undergrowth was mostly this bothersome low level thorney stuff that really is not that bad, but it is all over. Early on you could plow through it, later on it wanted to grab you and hang on. Just some minor sctatches on legs and arms. These were some of the most gorgous woods with some colors changing similar to Ozark type woods. After ward we went ot downtown Louisville to 4th st crazyness and celebrated with our Mint Jeluip Cups drinking Margiritas and eating at the Hard rock Cafe (only place still serving food at Midnight). It was awesome trip, and great to have Joe as my rogaine partner. next year more long distance hiking for training

| Cross Biking Rd/Trail 2:00:00 [3] 30.0 mi (3:59 / mi) | ||
| Great ride on the Des Plaines River trail. It seems that some leaves and growth are down and it opens up the visual terrain. Good weather and a great distance workout. I needed this to lossen up legs from the weekend.
Now its take it easy for the Lewis and Clark Rogaine this Saturday.

| Hanging and picking up controls on my Mt Bike for the Arie Crown score O. I really like that format. One map, one course ,one hour time. The newbies seem to mostly come back having a good time, as compared to some having fustration and disappointment in not finding controls. | ||
