Sunday Jun 10

Road Riding 3:46:00 [3] 56.8 mi (3:58 / mi)
Sunday recovery ride, still very tired from GMR

Saturday Jun 9

Running long 30:37 [5] 4.36 mi (7:01 / mi)
Leg 18 of the GMR. This was a pretty run as I recieved the handoff at 1:45 AM and ran on a conntry road to Layton ave in Milwaukee. Luckley at this time there was little traffic and plenty of street lights. This road is usually a pretty busy 4 lane road with bussiness lined up side to side the whole way. I started about 1 minute behind another team and could see his red blinkey light most of the run. We turned off and headed east under a major freeway 894 and dropped onto the root river parkway. Some major streets had to be crossed as the parkway continued. There were some lone cars driving on this road and I just closed my eyes if anything got thrown at me beer bottles or eggs etc After this run it on to a church for some noisey rest as this was a major TA for all the teams. I did not sleep but 20-30 minutes tops. At 5:30 am I just got up and started looking for my other team mates. 6:30 our legs began and it was a nice sunny day.
Running race 58:51 [5] 7.6 mi (7:45 / mi) vdot: 42.5
Last leg of the GMR. It is now about 9:30 am. I ran from Anderson Park in Kenosha to the Zion public Library. 95% of this run was on the Kenosha County trail and turned in the Robert Mclory trail when I crossed the IL border. It was flat and farily boring. I could not go any faster than an 8 minute mile no matter how hard I tried. I was also a little wobbly. Our team finished in just under 24 hours. It was a fun experience. At the finish at Montrose harbor in Chicago Jim Gordon handed me a beer and KB and Maricel were there. It was really fun event and I hope I get asked to be a Fossil next year.

Running race 37:30 [5] 5.03 mi (7:27 / mi) vdot: 43.1
GMR or Great Midwest Relay from Madison to Chicago. 190 miles 36 legs, team of 12.

Fossil Velocity all over 50 and some great runners and new friends.

My first leg was on the Glacial Drummond Trail., I was leg 6 of 36. This was all trail, flat and at the pace I was running, percieved sub 7 pace and a chase of the runner ahead of me, with a great kick at the end, not sure of the real length of this leg.
This leg started at approxmently 6:50.
On to hotel for some rest till we left hotel at 10:00pm to start the next legs 13-18.
