Cross Biking Rd/Trail 2:00:00 [3] 22.0 mi (5:27 / mi)

Des Plaines river trail for 2 hour ride. 3 days off getting my property in order.
Had Mary's work retirement party yesterday. Nice seeing people that I used to work with and know too.
Had a piece of her cake...hmmm good!

Orienteering Meet race 41:39 [5] *** 2.8 km (14:53 / km) +80m 13:01 / km
spiked:10/13c shoes: Icebug green #5

US Middle Champs at Dutch lake Idaho. Once again beautiful woods minus the pixie sticks all over the woods.
Lost 5 minutes on No 7 by drifting to much to the right and never seeing the small pond that was hidden by a spur to its east., I didn't hug the spur to the control long enough. Great event and finish to a great 8 days of fine orienteering.
I ended in fourth in M-60.

US Long Champs in Stanley Idaho.

Very cool terrain, would be fantastic if there wasn't so much pine slash all over the map.
Double map in one bag. Trying not to make the mistake I did in Croatia on a sprint map, which was flip the map and go looking for the start triangle when I was standing at it. 7K course I tried to start out easy and pick up the pace as I got into the map, but the slash just keep the speed down. My biggest mistake was going to 7 and thinking the river was a handrail and it was the pond and I was lucky to hit the trail and backtrack 50 meters to the control. Funny I had the fastest split on the next control.
Rick B and I were tied at the 13th control and he ended up winning m-60 by 49 seconds.
Lots of others were right in there within or near our time.

Pretty fantastic scenery in this area with the snowy Sawtooth Mountains looming in the background.

Orienteering Meet race 18:37 intensity: (31 @1) + (4:21 @2) + (9:32 @3) + (3:20 @4) + (53 @5) **** 3.46 km (5:23 / km)
ahr:128 max:174 spiked:14/15c shoes: Montrail light racers

US Sprint Champs at Boise St University.
Pretty straight forward campus, with no tricky stuff.
I made a few bobbles and could of had a few better route choices especially on 8 and 10.
Overall I had the best M-60 time.
JP Lande also won M-55 so we had a nice ride to the mountains and happy to leave any heat back down there.
