Devils Thumb, Colorado. First time ever here skiing.
Lots of wide open skiing, great grooming, lodges are very nice and I scored a deal on new Solomon classic boots for $60 at the shop here.
This was after I skied classical of course.
Still not feeling in any shape here because of the altitude.

Classical Skiing 40:09 intensity: (18 @0) + (1:29 @1) + (17:54 @2) + (20:19 @3) + (9 @4) 3.04 mi (13:12 / mi) +58m 12:28 / mi
ahr:118 max:142

Out on the classic no wax boards. I think my legs are sore from this technique.
Can’t wait to try my new classic boots soon.

Note

Freaking Avalances made driving long and with crazy snowfalls. We were going to take highway 91 where they never had avalanches, went down highway 24 that was supposed to be closed, but we made it through before they really closed it. It was a crazy drive wow!!

Leadville, mineral belt trail was slow so we tried the college trail which were better, but with the temps and altitude, I was beat and skied down to go classic skiing instead.

Classical Skiing 1:17:33 intensity: (9:48 @1) + (56:26 @2) + (11:12 @3) + (7 @4) 5.37 mi (14:26 / mi) +103m 13:38 / mi
ahr:109 max:141

Drove up to the gulch to start classical skiing for the first time in years. Nice and easy,, but we were still at 10000 + feet.
It felt pretty good.

Madnaess Run, I missed the warning about the bad mapped trail, which I took and took me so far out out of the way.
More bad map reading mistakes afterward. Good to get them
Out of the way on a cold day.
