Sunday Jun 9 #

9 AM

Run 1:30:25 intensity: (23:25 @1) + (1:05:04 @2) + (1:56 @3) 6.16 mi (14:41 / mi) +110m 13:54 / mi
ahr:108 max:122 shoes: Scott Pursuit

Road loop out to Next Ness, Alpine Road, Mansriggs, Beck Side, Old Hall Farm & Daltton Gate.
Strong wind & rain just before I left so out in full waterproofs over long tights. Although no rain during shuffle then strong gusty wind meant I never over-heated.
Left achilles grumbling again - must stretch - and overall feeling lethargic.

10 AM

Run 1:13:41 intensity: (4:57 @1) + (13:01 @2) + (47:30 @3) + (8:13 @4) 5.0 mi (14:45 / mi) +247m 12:47 / mi
ahr:124 max:140 shoes: VJ Iroc 3

Kirby Moor. Strong blustery wind out of the north - headwind on last climb.
Although wore shorts had 2 long sleeved tops and never felt particularly warm.

All of the marshy areas still have lying water due to the wet Spring.
Left achilles a bit niggly on the trod across Shooting House Hill after 3miles or so.

Ran this on feel and hoped it would be under 70mins, but felt pretty good nonetheless.

Walk 2:51:52 intensity: (42:58 @1) + (1:14:58 @2) + (37:54 @3) + (10:32 @4) + (5:30 @5) 6.45 mi (26:38 / mi) +681m 20:03 / mi
ahr:109 max:200 shoes: INOV8 - Mudclaw 300 blue

Walk up the nose of the Old Man from Torver, drop to Dow Crag hause & back via Goats Water.
Very blustery from the north & rain showers to start so I cagged up passing the quarries. Felt chilly all of the way up & happy to drop straight back down having put the climb into my legs.

Wednesday Jun 5 #

10 AM

Bike 1:27:17 intensity: (3:18 @1) + (53:29 @2) + (29:51 @3) + (39 @4) 19.08 mi (4:34 / mi) +203m 4:26 / mi
ahr:117 max:145 shoes: Bike - Trek Mad One

Slept much better.

First bike (maybe) of 2024!
Steady out along coast road but most of it into a strong head wind.
Out to Roa O in 47:45mins - normally like to do 42mins into headwind but not pushing.
Then coming back seemed much easier, apart from headwind back past Manjushri into town.
39:45 coming back in without pushing.
5 PM

Orienteering 40:23 intensity: (3 @1) + (3:55 @2) + (24:14 @3) + (11:36 @4) + (35 @5) 1.78 mi (22:43 / mi) +92m 19:35 / mi
ahr:128 max:156

LOC - SEE - Tarn Hows.
Time 45.31 - watch stopped just before finish on knarly descent into #11.

Had a good chat in car park before setting off.
Fell over within 3 steps of starting, doh! But after that seemed to get into a nice rythm and was reading the terrain well despite the head-high bracken.

Caught by Nick DJ going into #10 and followed him across disgusting slope into final control.

Tuesday Jun 4 #

4 PM

Run 38:21 intensity: (27:28 @1) + (9:06 @2) + (1:47 @3) 2.61 mi (14:41 / mi) +18m 14:22 / mi
ahr:100 max:123 shoes: Mizuno Wave Neo Ultra

A cool drizzly day which gradually cleared.
Poor nights sleep contributed to feeling tired and occasionally light-headed most of the day.

Eventually forced myself out of the door or a slow shamble around Ropewalk & the Swimming Pool & Tennis Centre. Feeling so low on energy in the face of 14deg & strong headwind to finish.

Monday Jun 3 #

11 AM

Note

Start travelling back from Helsinki - Stockholm - Edinburgh with SAS.
Flight delays - good to see Tom in Edinburgh for an hour.
Then very tired on drive south - reached Ulverston at midnight, but really 2am Finnish time.
