Great interval session at Gossan Hill. Did 2 x "gossan hill loop" and tried to run a solid pace on the first one and pb the 2nd. DId 7.57 and 7.41 (dang! 1 sec off pb ;) ). Felt pretty good but stuffed by the end! Then 4 x 30" (30" walk). Yay for a taper week next week!

Ran home from work and did intervals on the way home. Ran through black mtn reserve. It was pretty hot, so i felt pretty shattered afterwards! 4 x 1km (1' jog) then 5 x 200m (100m jog). I have to say each one felt quite long! Knee was good though, felt fine and no funny 'zzzz' feeling afterwards.

Ran up Mt Tenant (almost!). Ran from Namadgi visitors centre up the walking track, then turned right and went to Bushfolds Flat, then left onto the fire trail up towards summit, then turned left at walking trail and back down. Really fun, lovely bush, knee felt pretty fine so all good!

Very slow jog around Aranda. Felt lethargic but nice to get out, and practiced walking up hill for 6ft training. Went to steep pinch up Aranda and walked up, jogged back down. I timed one where I walked and compared to a jog, and they were about the same (although I probably wasn't trying too hard on the jog). Good to know though!

Intervals with Al around Aranda/Black mtn. 3 x 3' (1' float), 3 x 2' (1' jog), 3 x 1' (1' walk), 3 x 30" (1' walk). Tough session! Felt ok (although not super sprightly!), knee seemed ok and enjoyed my run.

Ran home from work over Black mtn, and did the dreaded Black Mtn session. CSRIO to gate (5.27), gate to saddle (4.28) and saddle to top (6.02). Faster than in Nov last year which was nice to know :). Really tough, had been dreading it most of the day but pushed really hard and concentrated on good technique (when I remembered!) and felt pretty good. Last one to top was awful though. Knee ok - could feel it in warm-up but then it seemed ok. (Iced and stretched when I got home).

Cockies run with Devil, Lucy and Ian. Really fun, but very muggy! Did Ainslie and Majura, then back though what's left of the pines and over Hackett Hill. Knee felt good (yay!), and I felt quite strong on the hills. Had an 'amazeball' and gel and all seemed ok. Really enjoyed the run.

Did ints on the oval (nice and flat!) today - 1 x 3km (3' jog) then 6 x 200m (100m jog). Knee felt pretty good, made sure I did my nerve stretches before and after, and iced knee after, and it didn't feel too bad.
Felt strong running although wasn't particularly fast!

Went to do intervals but after warm up knee was feeling a bit funny, could sort of feel where it used to hurt even though it wasn't hurting, but decided no good could come from running today so went home. How sensible!

Note

Went to physio today. Cathy said funny knee seemed to be related to very tight back resulting in similar symptoms as to when I had the ITB pain, probably brought on from racing on Sunday (i.e. 11km racing downhill). Gave me some more stretches and exercises to relieve tight back and nerve, and hoping if I keep up the anti-inflams the sort of "zzzz" feeling in my knee will settle down ok. Feeling hopeful :)

Intervals on Gossan Hill with Shannon, Al and Mace. Felt surprisingly ok, not too weary and managed to run hard so that was good. Did 8 x 500m (1' jog) then 4 x 20" (10"). Was good session, although ITB felt a bit tight which was a little unusual, and by the end of the day my knee was feeling a bit weird... put on ice and did lots of roller work. Fingers crossed.... and possibly shouldn't have done ints today in hindsight.

Kosciuszko Half marathon from Charlottes Pass to top of Mt K return. Tough!! Was uphill pretty much all the way (just one slight downhill to Snowy River which was tough on the way back!). It was pretty windy, so sometimes it felt like a real struggle running into the headwind. Was great though, felt happy with how I ran and did a solid effort to top, then tried to run as fast as I could on the downhill return! (Which wasn't actually that fast, but it was fun!). I could see Al most of the way up but she took off at about the half-way mark, and couldn't even see her on the way down. The last 3 - 4km were really tough - I was starting to feel really buggered and it was hard to maintain speed even though it was a bit downhill. Last 100m were flat/up hill and nearly did me in! Great race though, beautiful scenery and fun to not be running in such high temps! Shoes were good on the rocky trail so I will be happy to wear them in 6ft. Food - I had a gel at Rawson's pass on the way up, and an "Amazeball" at snowy river on the way back. Seemed to go ok - no tummy probs. Sipped water throughout (ended up taking backpack, as there was no water provided). Great fun day!

Met Al at home and ran up Black Mtn, then over to Hackett to meet Cockies for run. Ran up Mt Ainslie and then Majura, but I think I probably did a PW up Majura I was so tired from the heat! I drank so much water and had 3 gels but I was really struggling by the end. It was tough. Was very glad to get to sfoglia for focaccia and milkshake even if I did over-complicate my order in my desperation to get honey with my toast!

Ginninderra park run. It was hot but I really enjoyed racing today! Was fun to run hard and I had a good race with Lucy and another girl Kate, so it was fun. Last km felt a very long way but managed to keep good pace and was happy with my time.
