Running hills 45:00 [5]

Super tough session up Black mtn - 3 stages (csiro to gate 5:32, gate to saddle 4:28, then saddle to top 5.39, with 1 min standing recover in between). Really hard! I think the first 2 were a bit quicker than last time and last one about the same, although i couldn't exaclty remember where I started at csiro last time so that might not be exact.

Easy run. Did a lap of the ovals barefoot out of curiosity after reading born to run, and it was really fun! Ran in the dewy grass, it was really nice. Then did a loop round Aranda.

Tough session - ran with Greg and we did 4km tempo around little black mtn in the middle. I was really tired afterwards!

Running intervals 55:00 [5]

A really hard intervals session on the oval! Was tough work. 2 x 400m, (100m recovery jog); 4 x 300m (100m jog), 6 x 200m (100m jog), 8 x 100m (100m jog) with a few mins between each set. Tiring!

Running race 22:00 [5] 5.0 km (4:24 / km)

XC at Black mtn peninsula. It was a course around the grassy bit (3 laps) so not the traditional black mtn peninsula loop. It was all on grass, and I probably didn't warm up as well as I should but felt good once i got going. It was raining but such a fun race. 5km pb!! (although bit slower k rate than ct fun run - but i'm still very happy!)

Running race 2:04:00 [5] 21.1 km (5:53 / km)

Deep Space half marathon - oh it was bad! So painful. I think a combination of a bit of a cold during the week, plus inexperience at racing this sort of thing, meant that it didn't really go well.... I was going really well for the first 10km then I just cracked. It was so hard running back up the big 4km hill, I was getting overtaken by everyone and the last few km all I could aim to do was keep putting one foot in front of the other.... it was really really tough!! oh dear. I probably started out too hard I think.

Was supposed to be doing intervals, but I felt terrible. Had a sore throat which I was trying to ignore, but then I was feeling crappy on my intervals so abandoned and walked home. :(((

Rode to Y, then work, then to orienteering at Stromlo (the far side of Stromlo!!). Was slow, but felt ok.

Run around Aranda hill (woodland to grassland walk - got lost as per usual) then home via the old Rani rd and black mtn. Felt back to normal which was good!

Easy jog around Aranda. Felt ok, bit weary but I think just the usual end-of-the-day-i've-been-working-on-building-chook-house type tired. Cripes I'm a sook when I'm sick!

Note

Not feeling great - spent the whole day trying to decide whether to do xc or not. Decided not too - my legs are a bit achy and just feel crappy.

Fartlek type session. Was really tough. I was tired and was contemplating not doing any intervals (and in hindsight I shouldn't have - I got a bit of a cold the next day) but it was quite fun - I did:
1 x 8’ (2’ walk)
1 x 3’ (1’ jog)
4 x 30” (30” standing)
2 x 2’ (1’ jog)
1 x 4’ (1’ standing)
3 x 10” (10” standing)
= 30’ total (both effort and recovery)

Running hills 50:00 [5]

Hills on Black Mtn - one long one from gate up to seat in the saddle, then 7 x short hills from the track junction back up to the seat. They were meant to be about a minute long but I was just calculating times in my head and obviously I was a bit oxygen depleted as I thought they were 50 seconds (close enough, I thought, to a minute) but they were 40 secs so a bit short, so I did an extra one. The long hill was about 4:15 I think (can't quite remember!). Ran with Susie and Patrick - it was a lovely sunny day and a nice run! Although tough...
