shoes: Asics Gel 2000

Ran from work to mum and dads via bike path over commonwealth ave, Parliament House, Melbourne ave and red hill. Really nice! Felt bit weary but not sore and enjoyed running on some old stomping grounds. Ran pretty slow!

Sri chimnoy centenary relay - 3rd leg from arboretum to Hackett. Jase ran first leg then rob ran the long 2nd leg so I went out in 3rd place. Got passed by one team early in, then 2 other runners just before oconnor ridge but apart from that I didn't see anyone! Could see Kathy dent in distance ahead for first few km but she was too speedy for me to keep up. Felt pretty good and ran well considering that's the longest distance I've run in a long time. Last 4km were really tough and I had to struggle to keep going so I was pleased that I made it ok! Knee was fine too which was great, hope it holds up ok...

Went swimming with Jo in the evening. Felt tired but swim was really nice and actually felt much better afterwards! Did 1km, practicing my technique.

Intervals with al on aranda/black mtn. Felt a bit more motivated today than have been lately so was able to put in effort even though legs felt heavy for some reason. Fun though - 5', 4', 3', 2', 1' (1' jog) then few mins recovery then 4x30" (30" walk).

Pretty slow run home from work but it was such a lovely sunny spring day that I decided to run for a bit longer so took cement summit trail up black mtn to where it meets the dirt track then ran home taking random single tracks. Was so nice and I felt better than I thought I would after Sunday's race.

Trail run at tidbinbilla. Advertised at 15km but it was same course as last year (I think!) and was a bit shorter. Really fun! Beautiful day and such nice tracks to run on. Didn't feel like I was running super fast but was happy to be a bit quicker than last year (although maybe it had one short cut) as I wasn't feeling quite as motivated. Felt strong at end though and really enjoyed it.

Ints on the ovals - 8 x 90" (30" walk) then 4 x 100m (50m walk). Wasn't super motivated but then was ok once I got going. Felt a bit leg weary but still pushed as hard as I could (which wasn't very fast!). Beautiful morning and quite fun.

Body balance class. Usual teacher was away and the fill-in teacher wasn't quite the same. Not as relaxing as usual but nice to stretch.

Jogalong at Weston park (new course along bike path around the peninsula). Bit spur-of-the-moment as Emma was happy to mind kids after the mini jog (thanks Emma!). Ran hard and tried to negative split it but missed by about 10 secs. Fun!

Cycling 2:05:00 [3]

Went out riding this arvo as per original plan. Rode on bike paths out past gunghalin and forde to where the centenary trail crosses mulligans flat road so I could continue my quest to complete the centenary trail. Took me 50 mins to get there (no wonder I was so late to school pick up the other week, I thought it would only be about half an hour!) so then I was glad to be on my journey heading off through mulligans flat and goorooyaroo. It was so beautiful. Then once I got to the federal hwy I headed for home. Unfortunately I missed a track and ended up riding south on the north bound bike lane of the federal which wasn't fun and I felt like an idiot, then riding home through Mitchell and on the GDe wasnt that nice and I got swooped for the 3rd time (and this time a ripper) so it was a bit over it by then! Mostly it was fun though.

Went for a lovely run with al in the nice sunny spring weather. We ran over to Bruce ridge and did a lap around there. Really fun and felt quite good, just still bit sore in the old hamstrings.

Canberra times fun run 14km. Such a beautiful morning perfect for running - clear blue sky and not a breath of wind and quite cool. Felt good warming up and was excited to be running and really enjoyed it! Ran at a really good steady pace and had to really push the last km so I think I paced it well. Felt like I could run hard and loved it!

Had a swimming lesson this morning which was great! Felt a bit strange with slightly different stroke and really hard to remember to keep kicking but it was good to get some tips.

Taper session this morning with al - 4x1' (1'), 4x 30" (30"). Felt terrible, couldn't run hard and felt weary. Sciatic nerve has been a bit sore since tues and it was a bit sore running today. Will have to do lots of stretching tonight!

Intervals at lunch with Lucy on the bike path around black mtn peninsula. Half session: 4', 3', 2', 1' with recovery half of interval time, then 4 x 30" (30" walk). Tough but fun.

Was going to go to the gym today to just do some physio exercises (tapering for CT fun run) but saw Lucy down in the changerooms at lunch and decided it would be more fun to go out for a run since I didn't get a chance on the weekend. Really nice and found a cool little track around the lake near the museum which i didn't know was there. Forgot my watch but I think we ran for about half an hour.
