Slow easy run in pouring rain around Bruce ridge. Hamstring wasn't too bad, got sorer as run went on but even at end not as bad as last week. Enjoyed it despite rain and cold!

Walked down to pool in the morning and swam 1km. Such a nice morning and great start to the day.

Gym at lunch. Bit boring as had to leave out quite a few of usual exercises - time to make myself a new program.

Ran with Shannon, Al and Kathie on the usual loop. No ints for a couple of weeks but hamstring wasn't too bad today, much less sore than last week.

Walked to the pool and swam 1km. It was set up as long course, finally, which was so nice!

Ran the classic bridge-to-bridge at lunch with Kate today. Top of hamstring/glute pretty much hurt all the way, especially on the small ups onto the bridges. Annoying!

Note

Saw Cathy today. She thinks I have hamstring tendinopathy which basically means sitting, running up hills, stretching hamstrings all put strain on an already sore tendon right at top of hamstring near sit bones (which is why I thought it was sciatica). Have a new set of exercises and things to do (and not do!) for a few weeks to try to settle it down. Apparently it can drag on a bit if not sensible about it.... sigh!

Ints around little black mtn. Was a nice morning and would have been fun except that pain in left glute was really bad so didn't enjoy it much. Did 6', 5', 4', 3', 2', 1' (1' jog), 2' jog then 2 x 20" (1' jog).

Weights session at gym. Couldn't do full set of dead lifts as hurt too much but everything else ok but I'm glad I'm seeing Cathy tomorrow.

Cycling intervals 45:00 [4]

Continued a weekend of non-running (argh!) and did a bit of a gym sess, starting off with a spin class. Not my favourite thing but it was really hard!

Swimming 13:00 [3]

Swam 500m. Felt pretty weary after the spin class but at least it was nice and cool in the water.

Body b class. Stretching was great and although it didn't feel great on my glute at the time, I felt better afterwards.

Pool running 31:00 [3]

Decided that it was probably a good thing to have a few days off running as my sciatic nerve/glute was getting pretty sore. Tried pool running instead today - didn't feel too bad and better than putting extra load on my "good" leg with the dodgy knee and foot. Did 7 x 2'30" (30" recovery) with 5 mins each warm up and warm down.

Intervals with Shannon in the morning - did a 20 min tempo session where you get faster/increase effort every 5 mins. Really tough! Did the usual loop in reverse, so a few hills early on. Hard but really good. Glute is sore - not too bad while running but was pretty sore the rest of the day at work.

Short gym session - didn't have heaps of time and glute/nerve pretty sore so skipped things that hurt and did upper body/core/stretches.

Swam 1km after work. Really didn't feel like going and nearly bailed a couple of times but ended up going and actually really enjoyed it! Was really glad I'd gone and I swam fast for me!

Intervals with Al and Shannon in the morn. Did the usual loop and did 6 x 3' (1'), 3' jog then 3 x 1' (1'). Felt a bit weary today and glute not great! Feeling a few pains down hamstring.

Long run with Kathie, Shannon and Kate. Ran around Black mtn then a loop around Gossan Hill. Fun although glute/nerve was pretty sore by end and I felt like left leg wasn't really working properly while running. May be time to book in to see Cathy...

Planned to do a run followed by body b, so started run from CISAC and ran around Lake G. After a warm up, ran at tempo pace back to bridge (which turned out to be 5.8km in 27:41 - 4:46/km pace). Felt pretty good and really enjoyed it despite being a bit cold. Was too late for body b though so did some good stretching and went home!

Intervals at lunch with Kate on bike path around Lennox gardens and around lotus bay and back. Nice warm day and really fun but so hard! 10 x 90" (30" jog), 2' jog then 4 x 30" (30" walk). Sciatic nerve wasn't too bad at time but quite sore after.

Ints around Aranda bush land/black mountain on such a nice spring morning. Did 3 x 1 mile (90" rest) on undulating tracks. Tried to run hard! I enjoyed it.

Intervals on the ovals with Kathie and al. 20 x 30" (30"). Fun! Beautiful morning. Felt ok but sciatic nerve pain a bit annoying by the end.

Note

Went to gym but was bit too tired and sore and really didn't feel like doing anything other than stretch to help sciatic nerve pain.
