Running intervals 1:13:00 [5] 12.2 km (5:59 / km)
shoes: Saucony peregrine

Really tough but fun interval session on Aranda hill. Did 3 x 1 mile (1' jog) around a loop that went up the tough water bar hill (sluggenbuggen I think some people call it) then 2' jog, 4 x 1' (1' jog). Legs a bit weary but managed to push hard although the 3rd hilly mile was pretty tough! Dark for most of run, glad daylight savings is ending soon.

Orienteering race 58:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony peregrine

Day 3 of Easter. Really fun today. Took a poor route choice through green on number 1 so Cathy caught me 2 mins there, so could see her for next few controls which was really fun, I got ahead on 1 or 2 controls but mostly she was running much better than me, so then on long leg near end I thought I'd take a track option to try to get away - managed to pull away a bit but not quite 2 mins! Fun race and nice end to Easter. Legs feeling bit weary. Ended up 5th overall in w40.

shoes: Asics DS trainers

Ran to work via little black mountain and did ints - 6 x 500m (1' jog), 2' jog, 6 x 40" (20" walk). Felt good and think that carbo loading also helped recovery.

Running race 3:16:32 [3] 30.0 km (6:33 / km)
shoes: Saucony peregrine

Sydney trail series Manly dam 30km. Great fun! Was a bit stressed at start as I'd got lost on way to event from lane cove, but made it in time, just didn't really get a chance to warm up. Course was really fun, lots of sandstone and little paths and steps, I really enjoyed it. I walked up steep bits and ran at a steady not fast pace. Felt good, and was actually quite happy to set off on the 2nd 10km loop after the 20km loop. Carb loading definitely helped as I felt fine in the last 10km, bit tired of course but better than would normally expect to feel 20km in. Tripped over with about 2km to go so knee was bit sore but could still run, even managed a surge to the finish! Felt good. Foot was totally fine, no knee pain, so it all went really well. Feet were a bit sore but that's normal! Saucony shoes were great. Fun!

Saturday Mar 19, 2016 #

Note

Day 3 of carbo loading diet: am over it. Novelty has worn off and I feel like I'm stuffing in so much white food. Bit of a stomach ache in arvo so didn't eat everything on list.

Friday Mar 18, 2016 #

Exercises/Stretches/Gym 50:00 [1]

Body balance at lunch

Note

Day 2 of carbo loading: going ok, not really loving it and would love some more veg but feeling ok. Really could pass on all the sugary drinks though!

Thursday Mar 17, 2016 #

Running intervals 1:06:00 [4] 10.2 km (6:28 / km)
shoes: New Balance

Taper ints with al, Kathie and Shannon around the usual black mtn loop. 4 x 1' (1' jog) 4 x 30" (30" jog). Legs felt pretty good.

Note

Day 1 of carbo loading diet. Bit interesting... Second honey sandwich for arvo tea felt unnecessary and struggling with all the soft drink but interested to see how it goes!

Long run with Al, Kathie and Shannon around the pinnacles and aranda hill. It was pretty hot, and I found it a bit hard going by the end, but was a nice run. Foot seems to be holding up ok at the moment.

Running race 22:02 [5]
shoes: Asics DS trainers

Ginninderra park run. So close to cracking 22:00!! I learnt something today though - I shouldn't have looked at my watch near the end! I felt really good and was running hard and really enjoying it, but of course it was getting a bit hard in the last km and I started thinking about my legs, looked at my watch with just a couple of hundred metres to go and thought 'i'm not going to make it' (under 22:00). A fellow runner who I used to battle with each week until he went on a big training spurt and who I know can't keep up with had a much better attitude - how he looks and thinks 'if i sprint now, i might just make it!'. I feel sure I could've made up 2 seconds! Anyway, it was a beautiful morning and I loved it.

Running race 2:41:56 [4] 27.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Saucony peregrine

CBR100 25km race (described as 27km due to some course changes around construction, but 28km on my watch!). Very hot day so just wanted to focus on not starting too hard and drinking lots of fluids. In terms of how I managed the race I was really pleased - had breakfast of oats and milk about 1.5hrs before and that felt good, had a gel every 40 mins and sipped on water. I didn't start out hard, but just at a nice pace, and felt like that went well. I walked up Red Hill and Pushbike hill on black mtn, and ran the rest. There was a bit of a long slog on bike paths between red hill over scrivener dam to black mtn, but i maintained a really good steady pace there. The bit on black mtn was really fun, on a little windy single track, but then it was back onto the bike path for another 6km or so to the finish at the war memorial. That bit was tough, but managed to get through. Tried Emma's back pack and that was good too, much comfier than mine, and my foot was good too!! knee started hurting with 1km to go, but not too bad and I pulled up well afterwards. I had to stop a bit at some road crossings but my watch time was only 45secs faster than official time so it mustn't have been for as long as it felt! Came 3rd female which was cool, and won a great bag of goodies!

Did XC at Lake Gininderra. It was hot, and I felt pretty out of breath running! Not sick anymore but at tail end I guess. Did not enjoy it and was slow! Foot has been feeling better and was ok during run, but really sore after afterwards.
