Running 2:45:16 [3] 28.0 km (5:54 / km)
shoes: Asics ds trainers - purple

Two Bays Trail Run (Dromana to Cape Shank). It was a total struggle! I felt good for the first 11km, then was completely exhausted and struggled to not stop and walk! I tried eating a bit more beforehand and had my usual banana and muesli, then had a enduro bar about 30 mins before the race. It tasted a bit sweet and rich but stomach-wise I felt fine. The first 3-4km of the race was all uphill and I just went at a good steady pace, then went ok downhill for a while (ran faster than my normal jog but tried not to race it too hard), and then I just felt so tired! There was a gentle up hill about 11-12 km and I just felt like I was shuffling, and it never got better. My list of complaints included tired, sore shoulders/back from carrying backpack, crampy calf muscles (last few km), blister, sore toe nail etc. At 10km to go I really tried to talk myself up into a more positive frame of mind but I felt like I was running the last 10k of a marathon and was completely exhausted! Ah well. My cold probably took it's toll, and it just wasn't a great day. Felt a bit disappointed.

Running 25:00 [2]

Jog around Aranda - felt ok, legs felt ok and didn't really feel too bad considering I haven't run all week. Am confident that i'll be ok to run on Sunday :)

Note

Got a bit of a cold - feel headachy and stayed home. It's actually not too bad but I really want to get better for the two bays on the weekend so am being conservative!
