Orienteering 1:27:50 [3] 5.7 km (15:25 / km)
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 3 - Blue

GPS watch not working.

When the first control was not at the site, I decided that things might be disorganized on the rest of the course, and tried to just relax and enjoy the weather and get some training and workout. (But it also made me less confident and more deliberate about everything.) It was true that there were more things not quite right on the rest of the course, wrong numbers and such, and no water stops which I really wanted, but it wasn't really that bad for me. Actually it was a good lesson on what not to do as a wannabe course setter. It did seem like it was done by armchair only, and that a less experienced volunteer hung controls.

Apparently Dima, who passed me, moved some controls to the correct locations, so I'm guessing we all had different experiences on Green. It made me think back fondly to better days at Tyler - the 2012 meet that Karl set, where we had the mini urban section with the larger map and everything. That was really fun.

Didn't push it too hard today physically to protect the back, but still got a good workout. And the weather was great and it was fun to be a part of the chaos.

I do feel really badly for John Gillette who was obviously being given a hard time by a lot of people at the computer and was probably wishing he didn't volunteer today. :(
