running (tempo intervals) 33:20 [3] 4.17 mi (8:00 / mi)

2:03 7:56min/m: 16:06
2:14 8:03min/m 17:14

Round the loop.

Well, that wasn't easy after so much time off. Didn't look at my watch, went by feel. The first 3 miles were bang on 7:56, dropping to 8:11 on the last mile.

Almost time to do a 5km as see if my time is improved. I'm so freaking lazy though, just don't want to. Maybe I'll just spend my life doing easy runs and tempos once a week.

Note

MC texted to say he'd placed 26th at Footlocker XC South (North Carolina) with a 16:31. Awesome result on a hilly course. He got a medal and a certificate for outstanding performance.

A great result. 16 States competing. He'll feel much better with this.

Note

Laidback made me sign up for a 5km race next weekend. I guess proceeds help save the fish. I haven't run a 5km since high school.

So much for freaking laziness. I guess if it saves a fish, I can get off my butt.

running 37:37 [3] 4.0 mi (9:24 / mi)

With Laidback. I think he was surprised at my pace. Haven't run with him for almost 18 months. Just ran on the street.

Our heart rates were identical at 122. Have no idea what that means. It's too hot here for hr to be reliable so I don't usually look at it.

Note

Hmm, no run today. Darn inertia.

Applied for two new jobs today. One is to go back to working paeds. OK, peds. for those who need the translation.

The other is telepractice.

MC had a bad race at State. The timing chip wasn't positioned right on his shoes and his toes bled through his shoes. Pain. He didn't fuel right, didn't sleep well. He still was in the top third, running 30 seconds behind his anticipated pace. Laidback tells me it was nutty crazy crowded.

On the plus side, this is all good learning experience. Next year is when it will really count for him, and now he knows better. Nice to know he still needs his mum :)

Note

Am at a conference in Atlanta with a friend from home. Locals are looking at us sideways when we were asking where the conference centre was. Does nobody walk anymore? It was only a couple of miles
