Easy Running 49:42 [3] 7.25 mi (6:51 / mi)
ahr:140

Staying at nurses accom. atm but decided to see what was around the new house fro running and headed to Holmevalley Park.

it is absolutely perfect for every kind of session I like doing, Im so excited about training there. Marred slightly by a LOT of kids getting pissed, but thats a small price to pay for a venue suited to fast reps, temp, grass reps and hill reps all 2.5 miles from the door.

Didn't really have a plan for how long I wanted to run but didn't feel great so stopped when I felt I was about to start grinding.

Really enjoyed being back at work. Think that despite this year not really being what I envisaged, that it has been good for me to decide what I want to do with my life and thats Neuro at Chesterfield. Just hope I can et a job

Session intervals 11:40 [3] 2.5 mi (4:40 / mi)

Met up with the dynamic duo for a session of 12(400/200jog)

Paul announced he was aiming for 72s which sounded daunting but I decided to go with the pace and see how it felt from there.

I was less than pleased to finish the first rep in a 69, but the leg suggested it would be able to complete the session so I rolled with the punches.

Tough session and was delighted when Paul announced "2 to go" as I thought we were doing 12,
In fact we did 10.

Fantastic morning weather wise Nd really enjoyed the session with the lads, although I did find it tough and form left the building at rep 7

Nice run round derwent with Dr. Jenkins leg ok bit tight. It's all about howmot feels tomorra, gorgeous evening for a run

(rest day)

Had a session of mile reps planed but calves a bit too sore.

Had my longest period of consecutive running in the last 7 days so prob sensible to wait a bit. Will see how the legs feel tomorrow and maybe try a session then or I might just finish the week with steady running, not sure yet

Easy Running 44:21 [3] 6.34 mi (7:00 / mi)
ahr:139 rhr:34 weight:154lbs

Had a really bad night with searing pain from the old wisdom tooth last night, didn't wanna be a whimp but thought it needed looking at, so spent the morning at the hosp. turns out it was a a good decision as it was infected so they sorted it out for me.

Figured it wold be nice to explore seeing as I was out n about in Barnsley so headed to Worsborough Mill and had a nice plod around there.

Quads still a bit sore and calves a little tight, but think Im getting there, hammie very tight afterwards but more "tight" than "pathological"

Heart rate seems normal but tells me, despite loads of cross training, that I'm unfit. Weight is coming down though
5 PM

Easy Running 37:48 [3] 5.55 mi (6:49 / mi)
ahr:142

My main focus atm is to get my legs used to double days, long runs and sessions, so that once i start full training again it isn't a nasty shock. Its taken me 4 weeks now and my legs still aren't keen on running.

I planed to do two 50 minute runs today but stopped the first early due to quad tightness and this one due to calf tightness.

Another glorious day of running, I enjoyed it as much as I could, but would have loved it to have been DOM free.

That said, all niggles are a world away from where they were 6 weeks ago, which is great.

Ran at Wintersett.

Easy Running 1:30:00 [3] 12.26 mi (7:20 / mi)
ahr:137

Woke up with stiffened hamstrings from yesterday but trying to get some momentum to ether with both running on consecutive days, but also trying to build up my long run. Next week sees the arrival of June the 3rd. The day I pencilled in to start my training again.

Things are much better currently but I still consider myself to be sufficiently compromised so that proper training would make thins worse again, bout Im going to keep working towards getting going again and see how the body responds.

Cracking run from Bakewell with Pete following a great day spent at the Pilsley beer festival ith Dave, Pete and a few guys from work.

The last week or so has been immense.

Legs a bit tight at then end but not too bad, DOMS remain. Tooth currently very sore and gums all swollen. Didn't affect my running though

Easy Running 55:11 [3] 6.79 mi (8:08 / mi)

Nice run from Redmires with Sprotty or at least it would have been if we hadn't have gone off the beaten track, not ideal for my shit leg, but ultimately it was a beautiful run. Redmires is a place I don't often frequent and I must get over there more often.

Major DOMS in my quads but legs seemed to behave

Easy Running 45:33 [3] 6.0 mi (7:36 / mi)
ahr:132

Headed out to Chesterfield to try and get some work and also to try and secure an apartment for me and the WAG.

Bin dying to see what linacre reservoir was like for a run so headed over afterwards. Stunning, stunning day loved every second. No pain anywhere whatsoever, but I am on quite a lot of meds for my tooth so I'm prob a knob for running.

Verdict on Linacre is its great for a cheeky 5 miler, I took a few shit turns ups steap hills on shit paths so was very slow but nice not to be worrying about pace and just plodding. HR seems much more normal now, don't think my body likes the first 10 days post altitude.

Really looking forward to getting stuck into the running around where we plan to live

Easy Running 38:25 [3] 5.55 mi (6:55 / mi)
ahr:134 weight:156lbs

I couldn't resist another run and also couldn't be arsed with cross training. This combination ensured another gorgeous run. Today has been great and I felt like a runner for the first time in ages. Again, I'm not getting carried away as i am dosed up,

HR much more normal, so I can deduce that I need at least 10 days post altitude before my blood cells are normal

Never realised there was a path on the far side of dam flask "dam it".

Easy Running 44:06 [3] 6.52 mi (6:46 / mi)
ahr:154 max:163 rhr:6

Originally planned to cross train, but with a combination of having my teeth surgery cancelled again and then spending the rest of the day kicking off to get it reinstated, and the amazing weather I decided to go for a run.

Foot was really stiff this morning and a bit sire, but I mobed it and stretched the plantar fascia and it seemed much better, so more of that methinks. Foot totally behaved on the run, back was ok despite hurting all day as I've been in the car and hip and hammy were tight but never worse.

Loved the run, but my HR was very high and with all the recent events to do with my heart Im feeling really panicked. If I didn't have a watch on I would have just said I felt unfit, and for the moment that is what I'm putting it down to.

Hopefully having not run properly for a long period of time, then a patchy return to running, maybe its just a lack of running fitness, but it certainly doesn't help when a nurse screams down the phone "your heart rate is low even for an athlete!"

I felt fairly shaggerooed this morning when I woke up, think a few nights bad sleep and a bit of stress have caught up with me, so I just went easy.

Initially legs felt great ur by the end my hamstrings and calves were very tight, it was also
More laborious than I envisaged- hopefully just because I am in the day 3-10 post altitude dip.

Racing doesn't look like a good idea. If my legs improve I might have a trot round blacka moor though- depending on whether I get my tooth op back on

Hate to say it but, had to rest yet again today.
After the ferry debacle I had to leave Birmingham at 5.30 for a pre-op assessment in Barnsley.

At the assessment they were alarmed by my Resting heart rate so sent me for an ECG, this was irregular so they rang me to tell me not to run a step until I had seen a cardiologist an ld that my surgery was cancelled until I'd had a cardiology review.

Good Dr. Thake got a copy of the ECG and Tim also had a look and was happy that it was a runnersECG but said some things were a bit funny so I shoul have an Echo. I told him ibhad one last year and it was ok- he said the chances of things changing were minimal and I should be fine.

Unfortunately the hospital want this in writing so I have lost my wisdom teeth op. During this time I
Missed my chance to run as had a busy day.

Later in the day I visited my GP for a referral to Simon Till about my back, he had the appointment waiting but needs a referral. The GP wants me to have physio first, despite me having paid for it for 6 months and being a physio myself.

So a frustrating day. Now my conundrum is do I smash the park run, or Manchester (to the best of my current ability) or do undo the sensible thing and ease back in (legs and back still hurt).

Currently my heart is winning this battle I need a blowout

Tempted to run as I am stranded in Santander having missed my ferry yesterday in Bilbao. This kind of thing never happens to me as I am super organised, but got muddled up as I didn't consider that the ferry journey may be 23hours.

Left tib post very sore and right heel very sore after yesterday's track session. So better be sensible, which means 2 days off unless there's a gym on the ferry, which I doubt

Wanted to show Hatti the route i did the other day, but we had the 2 Gemmas in tow and we were dropped of at a car park lower down, everyone had 45-50 mins and the route would have taken 60mins so we just made it an out and back.

Hammys a bit sore and calves a bit tight. Still have the heel thing but it is getting better every day.

Main concern is the tib post tendon which is super tight and painful and doesn't seem to be improving. Its manageable but don't want it to turn into something worse

Cheeky 75 minuter with Gunny and Gemma Steele ( they did 90).

Left foot continues to be a bit sore, tibpost really tight. Have the standard return to running DOMS everywhere, but HR much lower for the paces set and right hip behaved, so fairly positive.

Gunny farted mid run and I did my standard issue there's a duck following us gag, and Gemma stopped and started looking for it. Space cadet

Have on eye on Manchester 10k seeing as though I have paid 37 quid for it. Will not do it if any niggles, but the pervert inside me really wants to know exactly where my fitness is.

Went and watched the foots instead. Sad to see City win the title, particularly as it looked as though QPR handed it to them when they knew thy were safe. Joey Barton is an absolute cretin

Session intervals 26:24 [5] 5.0 mi (5:17 / mi)

This morning I was going to pace Hatti's session but she came down with a sore throat and abandoned it.

Id got myself psyched up and was looking forward to it, so headed up with the group and did a session of 5 x 1mile/2mins on my own.

The aim was to maintain form and keep to a steady pace. Don't know how i feel about the times really, it got tougher. I intended to do anywhere upto six depending on leg, back, foot pain or fatigue. So was pleasantly surprised make it to 5. I stopped here as the time dropped and my heart rate hit 178.

Really hot afternoon. Lovely, positive to way to end the trip. Lets see how the body responds. Hip a bit tight after

Decided to try out a loop I spotted on the big bike ride the other day with Lewis.

Everyone else was resting so went alone, with my top off in 23 degree heat and it was bliss, the route was cracking too, but as foot felt ok I added on to make it an hour so that it reduced the amount of cross training time required to make it a long run.

This back fired as I had a lengthy uphill stint which was tiring and afterwards my foot began to ache a bit.

Heel sore this morning, but I think its stetting to ease a little

Bloody gorgeous day today, I planned on trying a run, but Hatts' garmin has packed in. I'm trying to monitor my hear rate with all my exercise, so decided to pace her acceleration run, she's not great at pacing anyway so wanted to help her avoid overdoing things so soon into her return to running.

The left foot was great until the last mile and is a bit sore now, not the most sensible run to choose, but am past caring at the minute. The heel pain was there through out.

Although the heel pain fits with the area of the back that is fucked, i'm not totally convinced that its coming from my back, I'm wondering if it is impinged somewhere around the knee. Bloody sore though and defo neural.

Despite a high heart rate and pain, this was a lovely morning

Feelin pretty miserable today, worsened by the fact that its a stunning day outside and in exactly one week I will be at home which signifies the end of "the dream."

Feeling so frustrated I could scream, can't imagine this all going away and I'm trying to get my head around what life would be like if I had to give up running. I can't bare the thought of this as running got me out of a very dark hole when I first started.

Trying my hardest not to drag Hatti down with it all, hence the AP offloading. But its pretty hard not being a miserable twat. How ironic that the year I give up everything for running, I'm faced with contemplating giving up running.

Great bike ride with Lewis, we decided to ride to the most ambitious climb we could, from the Pyrenees 2000 trail to lake Bouillouses, which is approx 1300 ft of climb with some really steep sections.

We were out in total or about 2 hours but I haven't counted anything where my hr was below 130. It was basically really high or really low as it was a climb or a descent.

Really a=enjoyable afternoon which coincided with the only summer-like day we've had. Nice way to cheer ones-self up.

Back really tight after w file which is to be expected. Heel still very sore, frustratingly (in a kind of what-if kind of way..) hamstring seems great

I got to the gym and it was shut today due to a bank holiday. My foot was a bit sore so didn't think the ski machine was a good option so in a panic I decided to head to the bottom of the plateau road to attempt the infamous MTB time trial Chris Thompson had the record at 1330 which Steve Vernon broke with two attempts in the same session of something like 1321 and 1308.

In order to get the record you have to average 4.55 milling for 2.67miles with 667 feet of climb. I decided to go for it but went off too hard, very quickly realising that this was a tough record.

Half way into the second mile it was survival and when I finished my lungs were on fire and i could taste blood so much that I thought I'd bit myself. Unfortunately my back was very sore at the end, but I think I will have another attempt in thursday. I wish I;d tried it sooner as it's a bloody good work out

Although its not worsened by running, in fact its one of the only times i can feel it, I think I'd better not do too much running until this heel problem disappears.

Ive tried some neural glides side it started, but today decided to risk a big neural stretch (with ibuprofen at the ready.) Will see how that turns out

Decided to try and simulate tempo running, by doing it uphill, avoiding over stretching the hammys.

Back tight on waking and heel sore, but left foot feeling better.

Got to the end point of tuesdays run at the plateau car park in 32 mins dead (aHR 164), then headed on the trails to the plateau proper, but backed off the pace due to my foot getting sore. Passed Paula here, who later asked Hatti if I was the "nutter in the vest." (In my defence the sun was shining when i set off.)

Frustratingly, by the end of the run my hammy problem had come back, mainly because my back had tightened even more- forgot about that aspect of hill running.

My left foot was also sore again, really can't shake that off.

So I'm currently on a bit of a downer, feeling frustrated at how the year has gone. To be honest In want to do it all again, but properly. Bit jealous that Hatti gets this for the next few years, would love to have done the year we had planned.

Down at the lake, decent group run with Wilko, Lewis Moses, Gemma's Steele and Turtle. A few of them feeling the effects of hard training so went easy, but as usual Gemma Steele wanted to smash it, although she is showing signs of tiring. I went with her otherwise she would have got totally lost.

When we got back Paula was about to head out so we had a chat and all tried to stop Gemma S taking sly photos of Paula, she a bit of a nightmare.

Stunning weather today following a long period of crazy winds +/- snow, felt orgasmic to be out running. Calves not loving the running but my hamstring is feeling the best it has felt in a very long time.

Its a shame I have this heel thing as i would think I was turning a corner if it wasn't for that, my back is still stiff, but it genuinely seems to benefit from running. Need to be careful with left foot as the tendon is still a little sore.

But on the whole I feel really happy today after 3 back to back really enjoyable runs

A fairly disastrous start to the day.My back was screaming when I woke up and I felt pretty shattered, despite having nearly 36 hours of rest. More concerning is the fact that I am getting neural pain in my heel, including P + N

I went to the gym to spin and couldn't get my heart rate up without hurting my back. I laid on the mat for about 10 minutes feeling frustrated and not knowing what to do. Then I decided to go home.

As i left I decided to head to the track and do a few easy laps to see if it helped my back, but UKA were there and I couldn't be arsed with all thee"whoo Daves doing a run" small talk which is doing my head in, particularly as I didn't know how long I would last

At the plateau the car park is approx 400m round, so I headed there, parked up, did lap and decided that my heel was too sore. Got back in the car and 20 minutes later, realised I was stuck in a snow drift that I wasn't getting out of until the snow melted.

My only option was to run home and come back later. The heel and back got better as the run went on. Calves tightened very quickly. Feeling very frustrated about the back, this heel referral is not good.

So a few hours later I tentatively began the run back up to the plateau, 925 feet of climb that I wasn't sure my body could handle, but I decided to have a bash.

Immediately the calves became pretty tight, but I got into my running quite quickly and found a decent rhythm. I really enjoyed the run and experienced my first runners endorphin high in a very long time.

The back and hammy were fine, although the back is still noticeably stiff when I run. I won't be getting excited, but at least I had a memorable run out here.

Still got the neural heel pain
