Note

Normally weigh myself on a race morning thinking "wish I wasn't a heavy fucker". This morning I shat myself as this is the lightest I've ever been…I don't feel that light though. Goodness knows if this is a good or bad thing!

Hammy sore this morning- crazy.

3 PM

Running race 44:30 [5] 7.8 mi (5:42 / mi)

National XC
Been looking forward to this for so long- I love this race. today was always going to be my best ever chance of a big run and my secret goal was top 40. Hamstring aside I went Into his thinking the only thing in my way of top 40 was the quality of the field. I felt fit, light and ready for it

Warming up I felt shit, which I took to be a good sign. I felt relaxed on the startline. When the gun went I was pleased with where I was for the effort and hoped to push on as the fast starters tired.

Except I started to go backwards after the medium lap- and it became a race all about finishing from there.
Pretty gutted as this was a great course for me. I can't make excuses as I felt fine on the day and in the days leading up for it...but is this a knock on effect of the illness a few weeks a go? Tricky to know whether to rest for a few days before 3 peaks.

Either way I'm getting drunk tonight.

Sacked off the warm down.

Knee very sore when I got home

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3] 2.1 mi (7:09 / mi)

Note

Having almost survived the week avoiding the various colds and illnesses at work, the most random thing happened in the middle of the night: I was woken up with an excruciating pain in my hamstring, the muscle had cramped and I couldn't straighten it out.

It eventually relented, but my bloody hammy hurts when I straighten it now! How random. Bit stressed about it with tomorrow in mind :(
4 PM

Running 26:06 [3] 4.05 mi (6:27 / mi)

Was shitting myself about this all day today- hammy has felt weird all day.

Fortunately I didn't feel it on the run. I ummed and arred about strides, but decided to get them done ad this felt good too, so I'm glad I ran.

Leg feels odd again this evening, think theres just a bit of muscle spasm, so getting loads of heat through it.

Still can't quite believe I managed to pick up a niggle in bed. Possibly the most exciting night in our bed in the last 3 years...

Possibly the most frustrating session ever. No word of a lie on EVERY lap a different dog ran at me and chased me, some pretty big, one like a sodding bear. So annoying, owners doing nowt.

Anyway. Never any point over analysing taper sessions as I always run poo in them anyway. Running within the SIJ pain too. But actually the sesh wasn't that bad considering the wind and dogs.

Lots of ill people at work to avoid, I hate taper weeks

Running warm up/down 35:00 [3] 5.0 mi (7:00 / mi)

Running 1:34:36 [3] 13.05 mi (7:15 / mi)

Another shite night with a poorly Sophie in our room at the outlaws house and I was niggly as hell when I woke up.

Left SIJ, knee and calf all sore and feeling sick again after my brekkie, so just trotted this one out, hated every second!

Hopefully a nice easy week will help sort everything out
