Adventure Race race (MTB) 1:53:00 [2] **
ahr:132 max:172 spiked:5/5c

Raced the Genesis Sprint with Ken Walker Sr as a GRAND MASTER. Nice relaxed racing under the sun. I had a lot of fun and it was interesting racing from a slightly different perspective with different strategy. Ken and I moved slow but very steady and efficient. We were super clean on everything but the mad mayhem at the start where we got funeled down some unmapped trail but quickly located before c1. And then again on the last control that was misplaced and a bingo.

The first all male team only beat us by two minutes!

Orienteering (CSU Training Weekend - Lo) 1:26:00 [4] **** 9.14 km (9:25 / km)

Started off dumb again. Hit c1 fine (.5k) all the rest of the 8 controls were roughly 1k in length. I iked the format and thought it was a great exercise, involving lots of route decisions. I got mixed up as I do often out there and on the second control I ended up going to my last control instead. To make matters worse I couldn't find it and waisted probably 6-8minutes total going out of the way and then looking for a streamer that I later found in that very same location. Was pretty flustered on my way to the real c2 and then had a poor route to c3. After that I pulled myself together and had much better succes with c4-c7. c8 started off well but about 2/3rds way through I got mixed up and had trouble recovering. Lost maybe only 2 min but hen stood at the control, again, for several minutes trying to find the streamer. I was standing about 5 meters from it both times I was there.

Despite the bobbles, I thought this was a good run for me. Great fun this weekend!

Orienteering (CSU Training Weekend - Me) 1:13:00 [3] **** 6.12 km (11:56 / km)

Erin and I went out together for the memory-o exercise. One person memorized to controls, while the other carrid the map to make sure the other wasn't headed towards kansas or something. It was lot easier than I thought it would be. Erin and I each only had to look at the map again a couple of times, on the second leg, during the whole exercise. Great for practicing simplification. We should do more of this.

Orienteering (CSU Training Weekend - Ro) 51:05 [4] **** 5.75 km (8:53 / km)

Route Choice O, although I think the last run of the weekend (sunday) involved more route choice. This was my best run of the weekend. Started off slow and sore and ended up over running c2. After that I was warmed up and had good focus. Seemed to get faster and more effecient as the run went on.

Orienteering (CSU Training Weekend - Sh) 28:08 [3] **** 2.5 km (11:15 / km)
