| Thermenland Open, 2nd day. Longest distance I've ever done. My longest so far was 14.1km at World University Orienteering Championships in Ko?ice last year. I did some other long races, but never 17.5km, which is quite extreme. Started fairly fast, having some problems finding the hidden controls (most controls have been hidden and flags dopped! Why a fancy event if basic things don't work?). Looking a few controls in the forrest after I got my feeling back. I did a fair race - never accelerated too much (except a few rare times), keeping the energy for later. After half of the course I used energy gel, which really did help. Because of my sweat my map dropped apart. I had to stop completely from 14th to 16th control, memorize the map and then run.
Second lap I started even slower. Having some problems finding controls in the dark forrest (I was running most of the second lap in heavy rain). Quite a few times it happened to me on the indistinct slope that I missed controls for a few meters and then over ran it. The result is exactly what I expected although I thought I could be a little bit faster. If I didn't make mistakes, I would have been. Anyway - I was the last among the Slovenian team today - 10' behind Samo, 16' behind Iztok and more than 30' behind David, who did a solid race, apparently. 15'50" of mistakes. | ||

| Warm up/model before the race. Kept quite a decent pace. Looking at features, "green" definitions and trying my direction keeping performance. | ||

| 7.5km for middle seemed a bit too much for me. In the end it was OK. I did a solid job - had some difficulties orientering but I didn't make too many mistakes. Also my running was good, I was able to accelerate some interval and run as fast as I am able in the forrest. When comming out of the forrest (after nearly 7 km's) I lost my strength. I was pleased in the finish. After mistakes of other Slovenian runners I have finished the first among the last. ;)
Terrain was similar than Slovenian League Nr. 2 terrain, but course setting was phenomenal. Great race. 3'50" of mistakes. | ||

| Slovenian N.C. in sprint. Did nearly a mistakeless race on a simple terrain. However - I still finished near the end of the list. I am just not fast enough and my endurance is not very good. Anyway - first 2 kilometers were good, I think, but after that I've just lost my speed.

| Great course on the Predgrize 2 map (extreme karstic part) set by Andraz. Enjoyed all of the race. I made for approximately 7 minutes of mistakes and have been quite slow partly. Also because of poor physical shape. But also map reading could be much better. However - I don't have the courage to loose touch with the map in this terrain. Which means - I do not risk at all.
Bacnar (almost club champion from today) cought me to the 2nd (and has beaten me here). I have beaten him to 3rd and we got back together after my mistake to 4th. Then we ran more or less together. I must say I went technically better then my rivals (also Simon ran in the group), but we lost will and speed after CP10. I am not sure why, but I guess, we are just lousy runners. 3rd place in the end, decent race. | ||

| Today's club championships was supposed to be my "race of the year", the one I owe all my motivation for training, the goal. However, after a series of injuries (that still last) of my knees and lack of time for running training I've lost quite some speed and endurance over the past two months - however, I am still quite keen about my o-technique. Everything sort of faded over the past two months. | ||

| Running first lap of Military champs. I knew immediately that this track would be too much for most of Slovenian military. Course was demanding, terrain very detailed, slow and partly even steep. 9:30 of mistakes. Pretnar ran 40', Rihtarič 44', Kustec 51'.
I am just too week physically to keep the pace trough the race. I have been quite slow in the uphill and from half of the 9th to the finish I could've been much faster. | ||

| This was a funny race today. I was without energy to make it all, but ... Partly course setting was great, partly it was made trough the green and in the uphill. I started OK, catching Miha to the 2nd, but then made a great error to the 4th, beating Miha to the 5th and then loosing places in the long uphill to the 6th. Following Miha's pace to the 7th (funny map; again very green unfair control) and 8th. 9th and 10th have been a crisis for me. I lost myself twice to the 9th, fighting hard with some green areas. Kids have beaten me, taking a path around. To the 10th (route choice over the hill) I took the pathless choice. I think I was fast anyway. I lost my nerve to the 11th - again some 50 meters of steep uphill. I could hardly walk - not run. I decided to finish fast and I made a great run in the tricky area towards the end. Fast and quite accurate, but ... Then again - 50 meters of steep uphill thrugh the green to the finish ... Shitty end.
