| Note | ||
| New WRE points have been published. Seems like my limit at this point for WRE's is around 600 points (based on all 3 races I had) in case I run perfect. Way to go? ;) Maybe it's enough. :D Otherwise - it's study, study, study. | ||
Sunday May 28 | ||
| Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] 2 km (5:00 / km) | ||
| shoes: New Balance 1022 | ||
| Warm up before SOL5/Thermenland Open sprint in Murska Sobota. My legs felt really heavy from yesterday, so I did an accelerating warm up from really low to really fast. | ||
| Orienteering race (sprint) 23:49 [4] *** 3.5 km (6:48 / km) +10m 6:43 / km | ||

| I did an OK race today. 1 second behind Jozko Jazbar, 2:30 behind Blaz ... Way behind elite. I did for about 2:10 of mistakes and besides, I didn't really run hard enough. I just wouldn't push myself to the limit. Started (and continued) the race, like it was 6 or 7k not 3.5 on a flat. I accelerated in the second part - in the park - which was too late, of course. | ||

| Today I have been on the Slovenian N.C. middle terrain, marking the controls with course setter (Samo). Terrain is great - clear, fast forrest with plenty of rocks, stones, depressions, etc. This is going to be the race of the year in Slovenia.
Map was somehow the problem partly. Few significat features are missing. I hope, this will not affect the competition, because - otherwise the map is said to be done ok. I still felt my knee. This is not good yet, but it didn't bother me too much.
Friday May 26 | ||
| Note | ||
| Not running for a while now ... I can blame it on my knee. It seemed to recover a bit ... I hope it remains that way after this weekend.
Tomorrow there is checking the terrain for N.C. middle on Vojsko and then there is SOL5 sprint (WRE) in Murska Sobota.

| Time to study ...
I have been thinking to log my study time here as well ... For motivation ... :-) And besides ... Sharp brain seems to help with good orienteering and concentration ... At least, this is the feeling. I always had good races after hard exams.
Wednesday May 17 | ||

| Cycling 32:00 [3] 13 km (2:28 / km) +23m 2:26 / km | ||
| ahr:132 max:171 | ||
| Easy cycling with a few hard pushes. | ||
Monday May 15 | ||
| Note | ||
| :-) Though I had a disastrous race yesterday I got my first WRE points. ;-) I only have to beat 1762 more orienteers and I will be No. 1. ;-) | ||
Sunday May 14 | ||
| Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] 1.5 km (6:40 / km) +50m 5:43 / km | ||

| Disaster. I didn't even analyse the map yet ... I might be afraid. But ... Again - I started 1st in the elite category ... WRE ... Didn't have good feeling before competition, since I have been working several things before (prize giving ceremony for kids, start, anouncements, etc.). But ... I thought I could concentrate and make a nice race ... At the start, I was distracted by the camerman, running behind me, commenting, where he was turning ... Then later I was distracted by the folks on the public control ... And I made several bad route choices ... Not a good race at all ...
Course setting was great - very nice, demanding ... Great map, lovely ... But ... The event itself ... There were problems with SI controls not turning on when they should ... Start was delayed ... Event itself was "big" ... Start on the main square of Piran, lots of noise, stage start, etc. Very big thing for Slovenia ... But ... On the other hand ... Turns out the race will be a big financial minus and what ment the most for competitors ... course would still be the same without the pomp.
| Note | ||
| This is, what suits my performance today. :-)

| It was middle distance Slovenian league event in Stra~un, Maribor. Flat terrain with non distinctive features ... Quite different than what we are used to ... I am quite satisfied with the race, did a few minimal mistakes (around 1 minute or so) ... But I didn't run too hard. I made it pleasant ... This motivation is something that I should be able to overcome sometimes. Just to really make the best of the race. I slept minimally tonight and I had some problems with concentration ...
Anyway - I really enjoyed the race and the result is not that bad either.
| Note | ||
| No problem with the knee during the race ... But I can feel it now and I could feel it climbing the stairs. | ||
Thursday May 11 | ||
| Note | ||
| I have been to Logatec to day for the final meeting with our cartographers for Cerkno Cup 2006. They have been satisfied with our service and with the terrain they mapped. Said - that it is possible to make extremely difficult middle race on it. Too bad that we are aiming for long. We will check this with the IOF advisor.
Otherwise - there is 1.86sq. km of new map. Seems quite interesting and difficult. A bit green but - it is mostly in service of "being difficult". I think this year's Cerkno Cup could provide most difficult orienteering ever on our competition.
| Note | ||
| (injured) | ||
| My knee problem seems to be more serious than I thought it would be ... We will see in the future, how it goes ... | ||
Wednesday May 10 | ||
| Running warm up/down 16:00 [3] 1.5 km (10:40 / km) +10m 10:19 / km | ||
| Warm up before University of Ljubljana Championships. | ||
| Orienteering race 44:00 [4] 3.5 km (12:34 / km) +305m 8:45 / km | ||
| I had a shitty race today ... Bad route choices, low motivation and 2 major mistakes. Route choice to CP1 wasn't that bad as it seemed when comparing with other ... I lost 1 minute and a few seconds there ... I went over the hill instead around ... Then I boomed major to the 3rd. I am not quite clear what happened there. I followed the contour to north, but somehow I ended up too low and had to do some up-hill to get back to the track. Lost another 4 to 5 minutes there. To 4th I did allright, but got distracted near the control. Not much mistake there. Then I boomed again to CP5. I misread the map and got up the wrong valley. A few more minutes ... So, quite a disaster. I finished 3rd, 15 minutes behind Andraz. There were around 9-10 minutes of mistakes.
Anyway - according to Duaan I lost only to the 1st and when I boomed 5th.
| Note | ||
| I should make a plan before the race ... Something like ...
1. It's a steep map. Follow the route choices with minimum climb. 2. Follow the tracks - it's worth to climb a few meters in the beginning of the leg and follow a fast track than follow rough contour. 3. Forget completely about other competitors. ;) 4. It's a short track - you can run at 95% at all times.
Tuesday May 9 | ||
| Note | ||
| (rest day) | ||
| It's been a study day today ... Besides ... I've been making some EYOC arrangements ... Speaking with SPORTIdent about primary time taking system and with Loka Timing for backup. | ||
Sunday May 7 | ||
| Cycling 40:03 [2] 13.7 km (2:55 / km) +31m 2:53 / km | ||
| ahr:143 max:171 | ||
| Cycled to Trzin ... Easy ... Finding the path aside industrial roads ... | ||
| Orienteering race (sprint) 13:43 [5] *** 2.4 km (5:43 / km) | ||
| ahr:197 max:213 spiked:30/30c shoes: New Balance 1022 | ||
| OLP5 sprint was organised in Trzin on the 1:1500 map for school purposes (Swiss SCOOL standard) ... There were 3 laps (3 maps) and 10 controls per each lap. I did a good race, finishing 1:20 behind Gregor Anderluh and 0:20 behind Srečo Omejc, which is a good sign for N.C. sprint next weekend.
Orienteering was simple, but everything was fast. I made practically no mistakes. And I ran pretty much at my maximum limit. And yes ... I have beaten my best per km time by one minute. :)
| Cycling 1:01:00 [3] 24.75 km (2:28 / km) +111m 2:25 / km | ||
| ahr:152 max:177 | ||
| Cycling back from Trzin ... It was a nice day and I wanted to make a loop, getting home another way ... It felt good. I made some intervals in the city, since it was crowded and there were plenty of traffic lights. | ||
Saturday May 6 | ||
| Running race 1:14:56 [3] 13.5 km (5:33 / km) +229m 5:07 / km | ||
| ahr:174 max:189 shoes: New Balance 1022 | ||
| Traditional 50th "Tek trojk". Ran easy. With Keti & Brin. Lovely weather, track ... Enjoyed. 2400 other runners. ;) | ||

| ahr:163 max:191 shoes: New Balance 1022 | ||
| Run with Tina. To Log. There slow - up hill. Back faster with 1 minute sprint intervals. Nice. | ||
Monday May 1 | ||
| Running 52:13 [3] 7.5 km (6:58 / km) +175m 6:14 / km | ||
| ahr:151 max:185 shoes: New Balance 1022 | ||
| Ran a lap around Cerkno with Tina. Big ascent in the beginning of the run. Then hard a few up-hill intervals. Otherwise easy, pleasant jog. After a while, there was some sunshine and nature blooms. It was nice - with some big hills covered with fresh yesterday's snow.
I ran with pretty low heart rate - 151 average, around 140-150 on the flats ... That's quite better then it used to be. Nice!
