Lovely race, if I would only run more accurate!

I started pretty great on the simple first leg. Made one of the top times, I felt great and motivated. To the second I went OK, but passed it and lost more than one minute. To third I was not very concentrated and made a mistake short after leaving 2nd. 4th was OK but not the fastest, on the 5th - quite simple ... I was looking for 2 minutes. Andraz caught me up and took over. To the 6th I took the left route choice, which was more complicated - got mislead when approcahing the control, a few meters before control I took it to the right and lost almost 5 minutes. 7th was simple, but I took it directly - which was too green and slow. 9th was a problem again - I wanted to avoid the green marsh and took it too much to the north. At this point I was not very sure about my orienteering any more, so - I was slow, looking details on the map. 10, 11 and 12 have been OK, though - my speed has limits. And the rest was - so, so ... Mistakes took me about 12 minutes.

I have problems with self confidence after making a mistake (even if it is a small one). I don't want ever to risk so I need to know quite well, where I am.

Finally running again. Back was allright. Made a modified lap with my roommate, who has problems with his knee. In the middle I made a fast 700m interval. I don't have much speed left - legs feel week when accelerating.

3rd event of Slovenian Pre-O league in Crngrob. Great success for my club. Only world champion ;) managed to steal silver from us and we took other 4 places in top 5. ;)

Few of us could be disqualified since we broke the rule of non-passing on the footpaths. Anyway - I had that control wrong anyway. ;)

It was a nice event with very good food. ;)

Our relay started a bit bad today. Jozko seemed to have made a few mistakes in the course and he came out with a 20 minute delay. Fortunately for us, one team (Polaris) mispunched in the first leg, so by the time Ales came out of the forrest we have been clearly second. It was up to me to maintain the position. I felt motivated, with a bit of adrenaline in my blood!

I started careful, but accurate. Did a small mistake to 2nd (30'), then went clear to 3rd and picked an OK routechoice (on the road) to 4th. Before the 4th I saw Miro (the mispunched team in front of us) heading up the road, thought, this was not my road, rechecked the map and found, it was my road. So, I followed ... However - It wasn't really my road, which I realized after 100m and then wanted to cross to the parallel one, which was mine. I came too high and then missed the junction and went to the next hill - with a vast depression in between. After that I crossed the deep depression and found my point. 7 minutes gone, I suppose. I ran clear to 5th and 6th, but I was much more careful (and slow now). Leaving the 4th CP I felt my back ... Damn ... It was cold and raining. I felt it was really bad, but I tried to run. 7th was OK and while going to the 8th I ran out of my energy supplies. My mind went completely blank near the CP. I had to stop, breathe and think really slowly, where my 50m distant CP is. I forgot to eat my energy bars before running. And CP9 was the toughest one, we had. Therefore I picked a trail, that went all around, but was the simplest way to find the CP. I regained some of my powers by the end I reached the CP and went OK until the spectator control. To the last loop I hardly relocated myself, but I again continued slowly and carefully on the very difficult terrain. At my last CP I also helped a lost girl and then ran smoothly to the finished.

After thorough analysis I concluded, that I made for 17' of mistakes. This means, I could run near to the tempo I had on long distance.

The crowd cheered a lot, and it was really very nice to finish. 3rd place for our team, but far far behind OK Brezice, who won and 10 minutes behind OK Komenda. Jure Zmrzlikar overtook me by 20 minutes or more on the course. Andra? ran 46'.

OK Polaris is ... sometimes very clumsy. I don't understand how can one digitally print the courses wrong on the map!? I think a few more words will be said about the maps, CP positioning, federation officials ...

Back is killing me today. I don't remember ever being in such pain!!! I need 3 minutes to stand up from a chair!

I was a bit skeptical about my racing today. I could hardly stand up and then I could orienteer? But ... In the forest after a few CP's seemed really great ... I have been mostly walking before the start, which helps me with loosening my back pain ...

National championships in long distance in Postojna. My goal was to be near the 1st place today ... And more - to try to run around 10-11min/km. On the 2nd CP I have been caught by Eneja, who ran the same course in women elite. We ran practically the whole course together, but ... funny, taking - where possible - different route choices. She has been helped by me a few times, and she helped me sometimes. Although we have been trying we could not loose one another. It helped my motivation and I have been faster therefore.

I made around 4:40 of mistakes. Sometimes bad route choice, sometimes mistake on the map (which has been a sort of disaster today - probably M21E will be annulled and also plenty of other people have not been satisfied with the map). For me it worked just great.

In the end 2 minutes behind Eneja, 1 minute in front of Jazbar and Jev?evar, 10 minutes in front of next member of M21A. Another glorious victory (except that Sandi deliberately made my time 10 minutes longer and I was anounced as 2nd). :) One of the best races this year.

Plenty of the people have been dissapointed today and if tomorrow mistakes follow we might loose a few very keen members ... We should not play with "bad maps" so much as we do this year!

Modifed lap on PST. Slowly - a bit accelerated towards the end. Legs felt heavy for the first 5km, then OK.

Easy running/walking tip with Vasko from Ski centre (Tuskov gric) to Davca (Davski slapovi). Partly nice, partly steep. We walked quite some uphill and took a few minutes to watch the waterfalls.

Short Wup. There was not much time, since we have been late for the race.
Orienteering race 1:09:06 [4] **** 4.4 km (15:42 / km) +200m 12:48 / km

OLP3 - Predgri?e. Race had been set by Ivan Mrak and Tibor. Course setting was relatively simple (mostly on tracks), with a few very nice passes in the "open forrest". I ran relatively well up to 5th (I cought many runners before me up to this CP). After this controls I was mislead by few new roads in the map (did Cesare do any work last year?!?). Anyway - I ran pretty good on the contours and was pleased, however, near the control the paths have been widened again and I was not sure, where I was. I passed the control - looking almost directly at it. And missed it. Ran to the road, found myself ... 8 minutes gone, I would say. I made a disastrous leg on the next CP. Went south, came out somewhere, I can still not see on the map where. Then sort of found myself. Attacked from the wrong angle. 3 minutes again. Then there was a simple leg to 8th CP. On the path, on the crossing to the left. I missed the crossing. 5 minutes. In the end I finished 4th with a really bad time.

I made an easy run but it looks like I am completely worn out. I could hardly manage the tempo. I don't know what's wrong, but I am missing something. Minerals? Rest?

I feel dizzy for 3 days, but otherwise there is nothing else wrong ... Hummm ...

Swam the first kilometer smoothly, then I became tired quite fast. I have felt my legs from yesterday's running and I was quite dizzy anyway. I don't know why. Maybe dehydrated or missing minerals ...

Winter pool is closing. It opens again the first weekend of june. Without the baloon over it. :)

Wednesday May 7

It was a lovely evening. Almost felt like June. Great atmosphere in Ljubljana. Quiet but vivid. I felt like running on gravel roads, so I modified my roommate's track with my own and ran almost the whole way on the PST. After 1km I did a bit of stretching, then continued easily. In the middle I made a bit of a fast run for a while.

Today I didn't feel very strong but I was very keen to go running. I suppose I am a bit tired from yesterday.

Tuesday May 6

Again in the pool. Felt strong in the beginning. There was no need for slow warm up. I made first 500m without stopping. Good feeling. In between I made 400m and 300m fast intervals and finished leisurely.

Another run on Kamenjak. One way nicely and slowly. Back in higher pace - around 4:30. I ran part of the track through the nice pine forrest twice. It would be a great o-event there ... ;)
