Ran 2 miles to the start. Pretty easy 50K course, pushed a little harder last 7, 8 miles or so. Foot the same - had to drop Ibuprofin during the run.

Easy run in the new Wildcats, with the taped-on bump from the podiatrist. Not great - felt very uncomfortable, kinda burny too. Resting it for 10 seconds at a time surprisingly helpful, but I don't think this is an option for WSER.

Hated the Hokas, but can't deny they protected my foot. Did get a few twinges here and there late in the run. Felt very uncomfortable on the climb (2:06 to summit); the descent got progressively better. Warmish day at the end.

Quicksilver 100K - looks like my Garmin can't transfer a big run like that. Started out OK, but by the time we left Hicks (~7 miles), my left foot was a problem and it just got worse up Bald Mountain, then down to Los Gatos. In a lot of pain, hopping off the foot whenever it hit a pebble etc.

Finally dropped two Ibuprofin after 4 hours of running. Pain sort of regressed at that point and over the next few hours went to tolerable levels, although I'm not sure if it was a) because of the Ibuprofin, b) being able to place my foot better in the daylight, c) slowing down (lots of climbing out of Los Gatos).

Started passing people on Dog Meat and the Kennedy Rollers. Ran back down Woods Rd fairly slowly, expecting people to pass me - but nobody did. In fact, I only passed people the rest of the day. Was in great control the rest of the race, even running some of the uphills at mile 60+.

Fairly cool day (temps didn't go much past 70). Worked off ~300 (maybe a little more) calories per hour, primarily Ensure and Tailwind.
